dear beautiful African gem, don't listen to the venom that seethes through the snake's teeth.
they don't know the goddess that hides deep
they don't know how our dark and lovely color sings the sweet melodies of ebony
they don't know the definition of a black queen.
female of African descents with skin kissed by the sun not a female dog or somebody's baby mama
African gem you show them you are a POC, person of color on your own thrown, afro sitting high with black first pick in the middle reminding them the definition of your blackness and the struggles of how your roots got here
Cause they don't understand what good is if it stared them in the eyes unbothered by the hatred you're a queen living free in your own magical world from sunset to sunrise.
dear beautiful African gem don't let meaningless living souls ignorance determine who you can or can not be
Overheard “you're pretty for a black girl”
one too many times before but it never click on why your complexion must be less than the rest of them. Never drawn to you on why your color is defined as a negative.
Never understood why a statement so cruel was labeled as a compliment. maybe it's the nappy 3A hair or two strands twist that frightens them, maybe their blinded by the golden bamboo hoops that catches the sun's light in their movement or could be jealousy that they have to alter their skin tone to even attempt to find melanin
but African gem you don't need approval from nobody.
They can compliment as they please
but your flawless skin is thicker than they breathe.
Even though it's easy to shape and form into somebody else for acceptance, you cannot let them empower you to insult your confidence
you walk, your walk. you talk, your talk
be perfectly you in everything that you do because black queen you're entitled to do anything you put your mind to.
