Readers Point Of View
We had our alarms set for three A.M our second night on the Queen. Garrett had volunteered to let me sleep with him again. During the night, something woke me up. Rolling over, I was alone in the bedroom. "Garrett?" I called out into the dark as my phone went off. "Three a.m." My back goes stiff to the sound of shuffling in the living area. Clicking on my flashlight, I open the door seeing Shane also flashing his flashlight into the living room. "Garrett" Shane says tiredly shining his light down on Garrett, who was sitting on the floor holding a book and a bottle of liquor. "Whaaaat. This is too scary." Shane's light drifted from the bottle back onto Garret. "Are you drinking?" Says Shane concerned. "No, I drank a little. I'm not drunk or anything." "Its not focusing on you at all." Shane had his camera out. I made my way onto the couch. "Jesus you scared me." Shane breathed. "I'm sorry Shane I couldn't sleep." "Did either of you hear that Big Bang?" "Yes I heard EVERYTHING, everything was Scary, I've gotten orbs on me, that raddled a little bit." Shane shone his light into the bathroom as Garrett continues. "There was shadows, I hate this." He finishes. I lay on the couch behind him feeling his head lay back on my legs. "Shane, the light." I cover my eyes. "Oop. Sorryyy." He laughs. "Mornting" "wait, you should run and jump on top of Ryland like a demon." Says Shane to Garrett making an awkward smile to the camera. Carrying his super realistic and super creepy baby, Benjamin, Garrett creeps into the back bedroom with him in Rylands face. No reaction at all. I yawn and begin to shut my eyes. "Cmon, time to go ghost hunting!" Says Shane enthusiastically. I start to shiver again pretty badly. I go back into Garrett's room to find his big comfortable hoodie still on the bed. Why not. Throwing it on, I can smell the scent. It's lovely. Even though the hoodie goes almost down to my knees and makes the sleeves floppy, it looks cozy with my black jeans and vans. "I see you found my hoodie?" Says Garrett getting alone with me. "I hope you don't mind, I was freezing again." Receiving a light peck on the head made everything feel better. "It looks really cute on you!" Grabbing his bag, Garrett joins the others by the door, me in tow with my own bag. Shane clicks on his flash light and opens the door into the hall. I can hear him shutter from the hallway. Following Shane, we go deeper into the ship. Coming to a third class nursery, Garrett holds an EVP and asks if anyone's in the nursery. Not a second later does a door abruptly open sending everyone a few inches in the air. "Sorry guys. Those ghosts can get ya." Says an employee passing by. I realize that my hands are holding onto Garrett's forearm. Nonchalantly, I remove them. "Wait what do you mean?" Says Garrett. "Some weird things go on around here. Around the whole ship. My favorite one is the ghost cat. There's a ghost cat here, a little white kitty with black spots. The same cat has been reported for about eighty years now." Finishes the employee. "That's so cool!" Garrett sounds so nerdy. "There's some locked doors around here and that's what you want to be careful of. You could open a door you didn't really need to open." Hearing that sent a shiver down everyone's spine. Returning to the isolation room, Shane decides to go inside to record and do EVPs having Garrett, Myself, Morgan and Ryland stay outside completely silent. I begin to feel sick and relatively sad. The only thing I can think to do is hold onto Garrett's hand to keep myself from passing out. Looking down at me once, he doesn't pull away, only squeezes my hand a bit. "Guys? Hey guys?" Shane says from inside. "Can you stop moving?" He continues. None of us are moving. I can feel the top of my palm being rubbed by his thumb. It's a soothing effect for sure. Coming outside of the room, a sadness loomed over Shane. I could feel it. Letting go of Garrett's hand left me a bitter feeling in some ways. "I asked if it had wanted me to stay, and it felt so sad and kind, it was really weird." Frowned Shane. It was decided to go back to the room with the freaky closet. "There's nothing." Says Shane pulling the note pad from the closet. "Are you sure it wasn't marked up by a ghost with words?" Laughs Morgan and Garrett. "Maybe she doesn't speak English." I say followed by Garrett beginning to ask if she spoke Spanish, only to be interrupted by the closet rattling. "This whole area...." Shane starts but doesn't continue. We began an EVP session with the lights off. Rylan and Morgan sat on one bed, Garrett and myself on the other while Shane paced around. Everyone seemed tired still. "Did you use to stay in this room." Says Garrett being the one to ask questions and hold the EVP device. "What was your name?" Still being tired myself, I rested my head onto his shoulder which he didn't seem to mind. "Does it make you mad that we're in this room?" Silence. "Tell is some ghost tea." He jokes making Shane laugh. The two begin laughing amongst themselves cracking ghost jokes. "Ryland is actually dead." Ryland had shifted to a chair further in the room. "Plot twist Ryland is actually the ghost." Says Morgan. Listening back to the recordings, Shane moved onto the bed with Garrett and I to hear. "Ew what was that noise?" A high pitched squeal played over the audio. "Pause it pause it this is when I was laying in that bed?" asks Shane. "Yeah but it might have just been when you said something." "Theres a voice." I say sitting up. "I can hear it just after you say "hey guys?" It sounds like it's mocking you. Listen." The recording plays over and a small "guys" is heard, causing Shane to almost vomit. "Ew oh my god oh my god oh my god" Shane curls up feeling frightened by this.
Ryland had decided to go to bed while us four roamed the ship a bit more. "Ew what's this?" Asks Shane. "I think it's just a kitchen" around the corner women were coming sending us into a running panic. "I have never ran so fast out of a kitchen" Shane laughs covering his mouth. "So, I think we should just go back to sleep for real. I think someone should sleep in that scary ass room by the front door." Shane tells us back in the room. "Aww this is nice I kinda like this room" Says Garrett in the creepy little room with me. "Well then goodnight Garrett and (y/n)" Shane shuts the door. "No! No I was just kidding I was just kidding." Upon exiting the room, I notice the front door opening on its own. "Shane Shane Shane the front door it's opening on its own right now!" I say shocked. Beginning to dry heave, Shane turns away from us. "I'm so excited to be leaving." He states before going to bed. "Wanna steal the mattress and just bring it in here?" I look up at Garrett who nods. I fall asleep on the couch instead of with Garrett. I was so tired I had just collapsed wherever my body decided to drop."Whatever you're going through, I don't know what that is I'm just some random youtuber standing on a ledge terrified to death, b-but whatever it is I know you can over come it. When you hit the bottom the only other way to go is up"
I could hear this stranger talking to me. His blue eyes were so afraid. I didn't care. I only cared about the darkness of death swallowing me within its grasp "
"you still hit the bottom." The strangers eyes widened as gravity took over, pulling me into the abyss.
"NO!" I heard the stranger say before eternal darkness. He was a few seconds late. I felt the wind rush against me, a silhouette of a blurry eyed stranger ceasing to exist. He let me die.I was screaming into my pillow before I was even awake. Being within earshot of Garrett, I managed to wake him up. Sitting upright, I gripped onto my hair trying to control my breathing. I died. I fucking died I was dead. "(Y/n) what's wrong, tell me what's wrong?" A very tired and blind without his glasses Garrett jumped to my aid almost immediately. It always amazed me how attentive about things he was. "You dropped me you dropped me." Was all I could say before being held. "No I didn't. It just a bad dream. You're alive and healthy with me and your friends I promise I didn't and wouldn't let you go." My entire body was trembling. Sometimes I feel bad that he had to go through that. I didn't even hesitate to kiss Garrett this time. It just sort of happened. That's all I wanted right now. Affection. To feel like someone else needed me instead of me needing them. My fingers ran through the back of his hair gently, feeling his own hands on my waist. "What happened to lying low?" Said Garrett sleepily as I laid back on the couch playing with the little tuff of hair on his forehead. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to feel something other than death." I admit. "Glad I could have helped." I could tell he was smiling without even opening my eyes.
Morning came with no surprise. I opened my eyes to Shane already recording Garrett acting dumb as usual. "Hand me a gummy worm." He said sleepily. "For breakfast?" Questioned Shane throwing the back. "Awww I'm like a bird! Feed it to me like a bird Morgan." Says Garret. "Okay then" holding a worm, Morgan drops it onto is face making him squeal. I laughed a little bit to myself. Setting up the camera, we all gather around Shane. Something that totally throws me off is that I'm being held by the waist. Laying low my ass. "Okay, so here's my official review. Uh this place is extremely haunted, mainly because of so many people dying here. The whole time we were here, we didn't see any other passengers and maybe one employee on this entire ship. Every single picture Garrett took had orbs in it. Not just normal orbs either. Then we went to the isolation chamber where I sat alone and started ask questions. When we listened back, we got answers. Then of course the crazy amounts of doors that just open and close on there own. Noises coming from every single corner of this hotel I'm sure there's tons of other things that I didn't even notice that were picked up on camera. All and all, I don't want to come back, and I am very excited to leave." Shane closes the camera. "Well, I think we should get some food or something." Says Shane while we pack everything in the car. We travel back to Shane's after the forty five minute or so drive. I feel EXHAUSTED. But it feels good to be away from the spooky and back to the norms. "Bye Guys!" I wave to Shane and Rylan before joining Garrett in his car to go home. "That was a fun adventure." He Says grinning. "Creepy, but yeah it was fun." I smile as well. Things just feel brighter. "You haven't taken my hoodie off since we got back." "Oh. Sorry. It's just really comforting I guess I just forgot I was wearing it." I yawn following him into our place. "Home sweet home." I fall back onto the couch just flat out tired. "You can't sleep yet. I have to know where you wanna go on our date." I groan dramatically having Garret sit on the couch with me. "You already know I'm not picky." I rest my legs across his lap. "I know but you're a special person it has to be really special." "Surprise me Gare. I'm really not that hard too impress considering you want to go out with me is just exciting alone." I laugh a little bit. "That makes it so much harder." I could tell he was trying to rack his brain. Suddenly, Garrett jumped. "I have literally the best idea ever! Are you free tonight?" "Well considering we just got back and I haven't had time to make plans, yes. Seven sound okay?" My smile isn't going away no matter what happens.
"Perfect."
