The Village was busy preparing for the Feast. The annual feast of Elmas, which would be happening tomorrow, and the royalties of Adamante will be parading at the streets of Hackenridge.
Which means Seokjin would be exhausted. His mother asked him to sweep the streets as if he were the only one living in the village, and his father told him to hang the glass lamps around the house. Although his father wouldn't mind doing it himself, it's just that his hands had burns from forging metals.
He swept the dead leaves on the street in front of their home, even if the weather was ideal, sweat still dripped from his forehead. While sweeping, he had the uneasy feeling that he wasn't the only one at the spot. Seokjin was sure he had no company with him, but two eyes seemed to bare on his back. There were people around him, but none seemed to pay him any attention. He turned around, and he met two brown eyes on a big, black wolf.
"Damn it," he sneered at the wolf. "Jimin, how many times have I told you not to sneak up on me, especially as wolf?"
If wolves can chuckle, this one definitely would.
The wolf figure morphed. His pointed ears turned round, his snout disappeared, and his fur shot right back into his skin. And Seokjin got used to his friend doing this. And thankfully, his clothing morphed with him.
A lean, and handsome young man, stood in the place where the wolf used to.
"I was gonna ask you to have a few cups of beer with me down at the pub, but it seems like you're too busy preparing for Elmas." Jimin smirked.
"Hey, I didn't want to- okay? I'll be dead meat if I don't follow orders." he said. "And by dead meat, meaning that they'll make me wash out smogs at the forge for the rest of my life."
Jimin grabbed a broom, and decided to help. After they were done with work, they headed down at the village's pub.
"Is Vulkasin preparing for Elmas?" Seokjin asked his friend.
Jimin chugged a cup of beer. "Well yeah, just not too much. Vulkasin is a neat place anyway."
"Except for the fact that you leave your dog litter at the sidewalks."
"Oh come on! I was a puppy back then."
Seokjin, and Jimin knew each other since the age of five. He clearly remembered the times when they would use to play outside, and Jimin would turn into a wolf and release his feces on the sidewalk.
"Anyway, we are much more excited for the new alphas three months from now." Jimin said. "I bet all the twelve children of our alpha king will be part of the challengers."
The werewolves had a different style of choosing their leadership, Jimin informed him when they were younger. Every decade, a challenge will be set under a full moon, where the challengers will remove their imperium, which is an item to control their transformation, they will fight, and the winner will be the alpha, along with his family.
"Will you compete for alpha?" Seokjin asked, taking a drink from his beer.
"Nah, I'm not planning to. Leadership is never my thing, and besides I'm assuming that Jungkook will be the winner among his brothers." the werewolf answered.
"Jungkook? You mean the youngest of the twelve?"
"Yup, Prince Jungkook."
Their attention was caught, when the pub's door opened, and the local seer named Josie entered, assisted by her young assistant.
Josie was old as a turtle, and Seokjin honestly has no idea how old the seer was. When he would go out his house to buy bread from the market when he was younger, he would notice Josie sitting outside her hut, and she would notice him too. "Pajarito" she would call him, and Seokjin would approach. Josie used to tell him tons of stories, but Seokjin always liked to hear about the missing Princess Emerald. She would also tell him about the warrior she looked up to, that served the royal family.
