"Dammit, my head aches." Chi whimpered.
Jungkook halted, as he looked up at the young seer. He morphed back into human, "What's wrong? Are you alright?" he asked, though it was clear to him that she wasn't.
"I think I can tolerate it though." she replied as she massaged her temple.
Jungkook remained as human to assist her as they walk through the woods. The sun was already up, which made it easier for the two to see around the woods.
Beside him, Chi kept shutting her eyes from time to time that it distracted him, yet all he did was glance at her.
The sound of branches snapping, and dried leaves getting crushed by their footsteps were the only ones filling up the awkward silence between the two. "So, uh- how long have you and Seokjin been friends?" Jungkook tried bringing up a conversation.
"Wha-? Oh– oh well, we've known each other since kids, but we're more on uh– sword-fighting acquaintances if that's what's it called." Chi said, forcing a reply, trying to keep a straight face.
"Hey you sure you're okay? Do you want to sit down for a while?"
Chi shook her head. "We have too keep going, there's not much time."
Jungkook wanted to argue, but he knew she wouldn't allow him to make her rest, and so he had no choice but to at least guide her. Beside him, Chi clutched the hilt of her sword, and he could definitely sense that something was troubling her.
They kept walking until Jungkook can finally smell sand, and salt water. He had never been near a sea before, but he was pretty sure that it was the sea. Jungkook grew up in a place where no ocean was near, which made him excited to go to Marecoast with Chi in the first place. As they got nearer, sand was already visible, and the werewolf could hear the waves splashing against the surface. Out of excitement, he walked a little faster, until he came to a stop as Chi had suddenly dropped to her knees.
"Chi! Are you–" Jungkook was cut short, as he saw his companion kneeling down with her body stiffed straight, and head up high. But what terrified him the most was her eyes– her eyes were glowing blue rather than warm brown, looking up the sky yet unfocused. The werewolf stood frozen, watching her helplessly. It was merely a couple of seconds, but it felt like hours of horror for him.
Chi's body fell limp on the ground, and that's when Jungkook recovered his senses.
"Chi! Hey- hey wake up!" he shook her shoulders as much as he could to wake her up. He could feel his heart beating fast. He didn't know what to do, they were the only ones there.
Her eyes suddenly flew open, as she gasped for air. "They're looking for me!" she exclaimed in terror as she grabbed Jungkook's shoulders. "They're looking for me and– and Seokjin! I saw them in Hackenridge–"
"Woah– woah easy there. Who's looking for you and Seokjin?"
"The Adamante guards! They've put a price on our head–" Chi said rapidly, causing Jungkook to calm her down. "Chi listen, you have to calm down–"
Jungkook paused, as she looked him in the eye with so much fear and shock.
"Trolls."
"Uh, what?"
As if it solved his confusion, loud stomping was coming from his right. The smell of rotten meat made the werewolf flinch. Both he and Chi, knew exactly what to do as they met each others eyes. He opened his mouth to say one word.
"Run." With Jungkook's cue, he helped her up and they both dashed to the beach.
Fortunately, they can outrun the trolls. But unfortunately there's nowhere to hide from them. The two were at the middle of the beach, and they can hear the growls grow louder.
Trees were knocked down, as two big, ugly, disgusting– as in really, unbelievably disgusting, brown greenish giants emerged from the woods. With no option left, Jungkook immediately turned to a wolf, as Chi drew her sword towards the beasts. Ugly number one grinned at both of them as if it was eyeing it's breakfast, which he probably was. Ugly number two, grumbled something which was probably something like 'bon appetit' in troll dialect, then he stomped towards them, as ugly number one followed.
As a gentleman would, Jungkook protectively stood infront of Chi. He snarled at the beasts, and with all the courage– pounced at ugly number one. The troll was no joke, it had hit him once and it sent him down on the floor. At the corner of his eyes, he could see Chi struggling with ugly number two as well.
Jungkook tried again, he stood back up. But he was distracted as the troll sent Chi flying towards a tree with just one swat. He wanted to make sure she was okay, but he had to get rid of the trolls for now. Trying to go against two 12 feet high giants, with super strength was suicide, but it was better than to be wolf eggs benedict. He charged towards the two, but ugly number one caught him by his hind legs. His face was inches near the troll's mouth. Suddenly, Jungkook was hoping for a miracle.
An arrow flew beside the werewolf as it had hit the troll's eye. The troll yelped in pain, as he threw the wolf, and just like that Jungkook was sent flying towards the ocean.
