It was a Sunday morning when the three friends were sleeping in their bedrooms enjoying their holiday with great interest.They were quite happy in their lives but they didn't know that their destiny had decided something else for them. Of course they were not going to lead a normal life, they were chosen for a drastic adventure.
Chase was woken up by the usual Sunday morning news which was echoing in the hall but this time the news was quite different.
"Now, this is quite unusual but three dead bodies had been found without any injuries or cut outside the Reader's library in Charring Cross Road yesterday evening"-said the reporter on the television.
"The Police is not quite sure about how the death had occured as there is no blood or any wound which can suggest the cause of their death."
When asked Inspector Jonathan gave a very brief comment where he said-" we will have to wait for the forensic reports before arriving at any conclusions." So now we will all have to wait and cross our fingers till the reports arrive.
Bella turned off the television and stared at Kevin who was sitting on the nearby sofa. Kevin was clever enough to know what did that stare mean. "So, we should go there isn't it ? That library is quite close to our house, right?-said Kevin.
Before Bella could reply Chase arrived on the spot who had heard the news from his bedroom door and said-"No, that's not right, that library is two kilometers away from our house and if you guys have not heard properly then let me tell you- three dead bodies were found there not three fairies so why the hell are you planning to go there, let me clear myself I am not going to some stupid library and involve myself in anything dangerous or mysterious in your language.
"And who did ask you to go there, may I know?"- snapped Bella.
"Exactly"- said Kevin."See, Chase it's just me and Bella who wants to go there and for you it's always your wish".
Chase knew quite better that his two friends could do anything to make their dull life interesting and agreed or not, but the idea of leaving them alone for anything was quite unbearable for him. He hated to be stuck at home and think about his friends doing interesting stuff.
"So, if you want to come with us then wake up early tomorrow because I don't think we will be able to go there today with all those cops around"-said Bella.
A confused Chase was left behind in the hall staring at the two doors where his two friends had just gone. With a frown on his face Chase went to the washroom.
Bella, Chase and Kevin- the three friends or rather three orphans who took shelter in the depths of London were studying in some so-called average college and were planning to do fruitful jobs after completion of their studies. They were all in their sweet sixteens and were quite unaware of their past lives as they were raised in individual orphanages which had been kind enough to pay their college fee and rent of their house till they become able to earn their livlihood. They had only their names with them and apart from that they knew nothing about their parents.
Bella was a tall, fair and beautifull girl with curly bushy hair and had a secret goal of being a detective. Kevin was quite thin in his neck and preferred to wear glasses though he hardly needed one. Chase was dark in colour and preferred to trim his hair at least twice a week.
The Monday morning brought the three friends to the Reader's library which was quite tall and sharp in it's peak and was designed much like a church.The autumn trees had weathered their leaves and the bang of bicycles were echoing on the outside street of the library. A huge statue of a lady with three bulls had found its place at one side of the library. The three friends while passing the statue found it strange to find the place without any cop but of course that meant they were in luck.
They entered the silent library and moved to the rows of books to find something to read but obviously that was just an excuse as they were quite interested in finding something strange which can suggest the mysterious death of people.
They searched each and every row but were not rewarded with any mysteries, in fact they attracted suspicion on themselves. Bella was quite sure that the librarian had looked thrice out of the corner of her eyes in their direction. Soon after moving to the last row they found a door opened in front of them. It bore a sign written-"STAFFS ONLY".
They stared at the door for few minutes deciding whether they should go or not."No, I am telling you that's not a good idea to enter a restricted area"-said Chase when he noticed a silent agreement of his two friends to enter the door.
"Well, Chase I think the sign says Staffs Only not a restricted room, you see so I don't think its anything dangerous in there"- said Bella.
Kevin agreed to Bella though he knew quite well that they were doing a worthless job and if truth be spoken he silently agreed to Chase(though without expressing it) but just for Bella's sake he was there doing all the stupid stuffs in the world.
Bella knew that she might find some clue or some hint and solve this puzzle of mysterious death. Her secret ambition to become a detective was overpowering her though she was clever enough not to mention this in front of her friends as she knew quite well that they will make fun of her. She was glad that Chase and Kevin were there with her because of course she needed a Dr. Watson to solve the mystery.
So, finally the friends entered the room and found three huge book shelves loaded with thousands of books. They moved to the front row and pulled out some books.
Chase rather unwillingly but pulled out a book titled-"The secret art-Lethani" when suddenly a pile of books fell down from the upper row. Chase picked up one of the books and held it in his hands.He noticed some rough dots on the cover page and a word "BOOKS" was carved on it's spine. He noticed that Bella and Kevin had also picked up two rather similar books.
"I have got the word "THE" on my book"-said Kevin looking at Chase's book. "And you have got"EYE" on your book Bella. That's weird three books with same colour and design and with no titles just some silly words on their spines."
"And the weirdest thing is that the book is fully blank with not a single word on it"- said Bella opening her book.
"Well, this one is also blank"-said Chase.
Kevin opened his book and was unsurprised to find the same thing. After turning some pages they found a piece of paper in each of their books.
