What Have I Done?

I made this super long to make up for me being later than expected. College is kicking my butt. Be prepared because it's long. Like, 5k words long. I tried to keep it short but I suck at writing short chapters. They all won't be this long though. That would be exhausting considering I'm still working on another story on Ao3. Anyways, here ya go!

Naruto abruptly turned around and pressed the button for the elevator frantically before the raven could spot him. His luck sucked as the door opened only for Karin to step out.

"Oh there you are Naruto. I called you at least five times."

The male gave her a tight lipped smile and nodded at the food and drinks in his arms. The secretary shook her head at his appearance and took the tray and bag out of his hands as he was forced to follow her. It was too late now. He hunched over to hide behind the redhead as she walked over to her office. The top floor was split into two sides with a large conference room in the middle. At the end of either side were the largest offices Naruto had ever seen, the left being bigger than the right. There was also a fairly large office next to the elevator that was for the secretaries. And then you had the offices for the assistants. They were nowhere near as big as the others, but they were better than the cubicles downstairs. What they lacked in size they made up for in views. The smaller rooms were away from the elevator and across the hall from the secretary's office. So while the secretaries had a nice size window, the assistants had an entire floor to ceiling window with the most amazing view of the city. Naruto purposely had his desk facing that way so he would be able to enjoy it. The downside was that they would have to use the hall bathroom instead of the private ones the other four had. But it didn't matter to the blonde. As far as he knew he was the only assistant, but he wasn't sure seeing as how he wasn't told a damn thing.

Naruto let out a breathe he didn't even know he was holding when he saw the raven go into his boss's office. Naruto cursed his luck (or rather, lack thereof) that one of the secretary's office walls were glass along with the conference room so they were see through. And it was the entrance too; which meant that you would see the person just by walking past the door. Naruto maneuvered his supervisor into his own office before separating their orders. He safely assumed that the extra order was for Sasuke. The blonde male had to suppress a growl. He knew that his ex had to have a secretary and probably two extra assistants of his own. So why did he have to make the breakfast run?

"Can you take the breakfast to Mr. Uchiha's office at the end of the opposite side of the hall? I'll bring Neji his. Then you can go and introduce yourself to Mr. Uchiha's secretary. She's.... interesting, but kind and driven. She was already on the phone checking shipments and flipping through files when I arrived at eight this morning. And Mr. Uchiha is decent. He's not very warm, but he's not as bad as people say either." Karin told Naruto, a slightly whimsical tone in her voice. Naruto refrained from rolling his eyes. Another fan girl. Great.

He scratched the back of his head and bit his lip. He knew that he needed to keep both his personal and business life separate but Karin needed to know their history if this was going to work; so Naruto made the choice to tell her the basics. It was safe to say that the female was rightfully shocked, but not judgemental. She told him what everybody else did: that he'd have to tell him soon since they were bound to see the other, but she would try to make sure they avoided each other as much as possible when she could.

"Well, that makes things more difficult but I'll try to hold both of them off and deliver Mr. Hyuga's breakfast and you can deliver Mr. Uchiha's. Just make it quick."

Naruto quickly gave his supervisor a hug. "You are a lifesaver! I promise I'll tell him, soon."

She nodded and smiled before taking both her and Neji's breakfast out of her office. He quickly followed suit and took the bag and ridiculously specific drink (three and a half extra shots, an extra teaspoon of caramel drizzle and exactly eleven large cubes. He sounded just like the stuck up priss Naruto knew he was). He rushed down the hall as fast as possible until he made his way into Sasuke's office. It was exactly as the blonde pictured it would be: bland but organized. You would have thought he was OCD with the neat and specific layout. His office wasn't like Naruto's where he had an entire corkboard of pictures of his friends, family, and Akiko hanging next to the new personalized calendar Ino made for him where every month had a picture of one of his friends. A few were two or three pictures with an entire group shot of them at the Sabaku's last Christmas for December. His desk alone had four pictures. One of his friends when they were in high school at the seniors graduation. They all managed to get in a picture since they knew it would be the last time they'd all be together. Another was a picture of him, his parents, and Menma taken at his tenth birthday party at the park. The third was a recent picture of Akiko taken a month ago. He had gotten an up close shot with their signature wide matching grins. And the final picture was a candid picture Gaara took of Akiko when Naruto was making her laugh. That was his favorite because you could see the sparkle and joy in her beautiful big dark eyes that wasn't there when she was a baby.
