Feelings

The Christmas break had flown by in a matter of seconds, and once the gifts were given and a certain confession avoided, it was time for the students show.

Behind the drawn curtains, the blue haired was inspecting his outfit in front of the pianist. He was wearing black leggings and a white tank top.

"does it look alright?" He stood in front of Jaehyun, bitting nervously his nails.

"well... I preferred without the top, but..." sighing dramatically, he added "I must admit that this outfit isn't bad either, if you know what I mean..."
Smirking, he let the other hit him.

"stop! I feel like I'm gonna faint..." Coming nearer to the boy, Jaehyun put his hands on the latter's shoulders and smiled confidently.

"there's no way you're messing this stage up... you trained with me!" Managing to laugh a little, Jungwoo let his friend bring him into a hug and stayed in the other's arms for a few seconds.

"Sicheng, Lia, it's your turn!" The student in charge of the lights called. Jungwoo turned to his confident friend and showed him thumbs up, smiling.

He stood up behind the curtains and fidgeted nervously as Sicheng began dancing. The dance was voluptuous and delicate. They turned and the red lights were focused on them, fading the other students dancing along off a little bit. Sicheng could merely notice the burning look of Yuta on his body, too engrossed in the prestation to notice. The students knew their choreography like the back of their hand. The teachers were sat in the front rows, admiring proudly the dancers and congratulating each others.

"you looked so cool Winwin!" Jungwoo hugged his friend before letting him go, disgusted by the sweat.
Panting a little bit, Sicheng smiled proudly.

There were still some performances to go before Jungwoo's, as his teacher had convinced the director to let him be the last student to come up. The boy watched the talented boys and girls from afar, not able to truly calm down until he heard Lucas' voice on stage.

The brown haired stood there with Taeyong and both looked at the audience with fierce eyes, rapping verses which Jungwoo couldn't fully understand. They spoke about talent and dreams and freedom and the cost of it and Jungwoo hid behind the thick curtains, afraid Yukhei meant what he was rapping about.
Still, when his old friend came out, he smiled brightly at him and told him how great he had been, ignoring the hunch in his stomach and the disappointed look Yukhei gave him, before leaving him again and going up on stage.

The floor was cold under his feet and Jungwoo shivered a little. Looking over at Jaehyun, he checked if his friend was alright. Nodding, the singer whispered a little 'good luck' before hitting softly the tiles. The sound of the piano echoed through the theater, captivating everyone instantly.

The smaller boy started dancing softly and grinned as he went from a side of the stage to another. His movements were controlled and beautiful. His toned muscles stretched as he jumped high.
It was a challenge for the young boy to dance alone, but it was a challenge that made his heart beat hard. The looks of the spectators gave him confidence and made him smile even brighter. Glancing at Jaehyun from time to time, he could sense their friendship and the trust that exhaled from the way the piano sounded.

But as he turned and delicately danced, Jungwoo felt crestfallen, not sensing the presence of Yukhei backstage a single bit. And when he smiled with hope and beamed with love, there only was Jaehyun to answer him.

When, finally, his time on stage was up, a thunder of applause exploded, silencing his throbbing heart for a few seconds or so. Then, Jaehyun lead their way behind the curtains and Jungwoo gradually felt sadness rising up in his chest as he gulped down water. He let his friends hug him and congratulate him, but knowing how beautiful he had looked only made him more subdued.
He suddenly got up, freeing himself from the grip of Sicheng, and wiped away the sweat on his forehead and the tears that threatened to spill. Taking his water bottle with him, he left the crowded and noisy place to retrieve the calm of the deserted hallways.

He let his back slide against the wall as he got down and sighed, resigned. Jungwoo didn't know how to feel at the moment. He didn't know if he should focus his mind on the lashing pain he felt in his feet from dancing barefoot, or on the fact that Jaehyun was starting to act weirder and weirder (Jungwoo could still feel the looks the latter had given him the entire performance), or on the fact that he was close to breaking down from both the disappointment and the relief of pressure from his shoulders.
He stared at the lockers in front of him and focused on his breathing in a gesture to calm his self. But as he did, legs suddenly came to block his vision. Looking up, the blue haired boy felt his heart speeding up at the sight.

In front of him stood Lucas. The student, after having pondered the question of wether or not to do what he was about to do, had looked for the smaller and was now trying to ignore his brain screaming him something along the lines of 'ABORT ABORT YOU FUCKING DIPSHIT'.

Nontheless, Lucas stood in front of Jungwoo, frowning as he let out his hand for the boy to catch. Getting up, Jungwoo looked quizzically at Yukhei, as the pissed expression should actually have been painted on his face and not the latter's.

"I looked for you. Where were you?" Lucas asked the other.

"I was on stage, where else would I have been?" Jungwoo freed his hand from the taller boy's grip and tried to sound annoyed.

"I know that, I was talking ab–"

"then, why didn't you come? Where were you, Lucas, when I was dancing?" Now Jungwoo was actually getting angered at the latter's behavior. The look on Lucas face softened a little and he pursued his lips.
"I had something to tell you, there... It was important Lu'..." Jungwoo felt his heart tightening inside his chest and he clenched his fists.

"I have something to tell you as well..." Jungwoo looked at his neighbor's face, surprised by the change of tone.

"what is it?" He felt suspicious but he still couldn't control neither his heartbeat nor his hopes getting high.

"I... I'm... You..." Lucas sighed. "I think that I'm..."
He groaned, angered by his lack of courage and his stuttering self. He stared at Jungwoo's face and tried to sort all his emotions out. But it was so hard for the teen to distinguish the jealousy and anger from the love and friendship, as it all mixed up messily in his insides.
He threw his head back and stared at the high ceiling.

Sighing once more, he approached Jungwoo. The boy was startled by the the feel of Yukhei's hand on his left cheek but still gave in as he approached the taller as well, not really sure of what to think. He still closed his eyes after seeing Lucas getting closer to his face.
