Once the smoke of her two spells had cleared, Lily saw exactly what she had been expected although she really hadn’t wished to see it. All of her wished that she had embarrassed herself and had stormed in on Flitwick tutoring older students, but that wasn’t what was before her.
Standing at the back of the classroom and shooting fuming glares at her were none other than Matthew and Nicholas Harris, and lying at the front of the classroom was Eli, who looked like he was in an enormous amount of pain.
“It’s little Potter and her Mudblood best friend,” Matthew smirked.
“How dare you call him that!” Lily raged, storming to the back of the classroom where the older Harris brothers stood with cocky looks on their faces. “You absolute filth! You’ve been practicing spells on your brother this entire year!”
“Lily, stop!” Eli yelled from the ground.
“You act as though we’re afraid of you,” Nicholas scowled at her. “You’re a little first year, and we’re much older than you. It’s your word against ours. What are you going to do? Report us to Smithers?”
“I just might,” Lily scoffed, feeling extremely reckless and bold.
Nicholas rolled his eyes, “What’s she going to do to us? We’re in with her, you git.”
“What the bloody hell are you talking about?” Lily roared still enraged. “You’re in with her? What is that supposed to mean?”
“Shut it, Nicholas,” Matthew snapped at his younger brother. “That is none of this filthy half-blood’s business.”
“Don’t talk to her like that!” Rudolph yelled from the doorway. Lily had nearly forgotten that he was there.
“Oh?” Matthew scoffed and then put an ugly sneer on his face. “What are you going to do about it you little Mudblood?”
“PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!” Rudolph yelled out without warning.
Lily was shocked at her best friend’s bout of magic and was quick to duck out of the way and under a table, though she smacked her head off of it, before the white light of the spell could come in contact with herself; she really didn’t trust Rudolph’s coordination with a wand all too much. She watched as the spell amazingly came in contact with the elder of the Harris brothers. Matthew’s body went rigid as his limbs clanked together like hunks of metal. He teetered on his feet for a moment before crashing backwards into a desk.
“You filthy little Muddleblood!” Nicholas yelled, taking a few threatening steps towards Rudolph.
Taking a page from Rudolph’s book, Lily shouted, “PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!” and watched as Nicholas fell to the ground immobile as his brother had.
“Let’s get out of here,” Rudolph said, helping Lily up from the ground.
“What have you guys done?” Eli asked, staggering over to them from the front of the room. “This is terrible.”
Lily turned her head towards him, “What do you mean? They’re petrified, Eli."
“Do you realize that this is just going to anger them even more? These meetings with them are just going to continue getting worse and worse and worse,” Eli yelled.
“This has been going on all year, hasn’t it?” Lily questioned, continuing to piece everything together in her head. “They’ve been practicing their spells on you, a defenseless first year, and you just sit by and let it happen. This is where you’ve been disappearing to for this entire year.”
