Pat's P.O.V

"Shoot! She saw outside!" I opened the tent flap and saw her on her knees, hands over her eyes. I walked beside her. "Umm Jen? Are you okay?" I said, placing my hand on her shoulder and trying to look her in the eyes. She swiftly turned her head around, tears formed, dripping from her eyes. "DO I LOOK OKAY?!" She yelled, voice cracking of anger and confusion. She slapped my hand away from her shoulder. "Don't touch me... leave me be." She growled. I nodded, and backed away from her and left.

A Few Minutes Later...

"Hey Pat!" I glanced over and saw Carter waving at me, huddle up with everyone. I jogged towards them and Lenny was the first to speak. "What's wrong with waterfall?" "She has a name. You should know that." I said to him. "Woah! Sorry for calling your Girlfriend a---" "SHE NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!!!" I snapped at him, my eyes started to glow. "C'mon Pat. He isn't worth our time." Biff said, placing a hand on my shoulder. "Yeah! Wait, what's her name?" Carter chirped. "Her name is Jennifer, Jen for short." I said to everyone. "C'mon! Show us! Introduce us to her! Please!" Carter pleaded. Everyone murmured in agreement.

"Okay fine, but if she's starts to get mad it's not my fault." I said, arms crossed against my chest. "YESSS!" Carter said, fist pumping the air. I rolled my eyes at him, shaking my head, laughing. "Uhh... Pat..." Biff said, tapping my back to get my attention. "What is it?" I said, over my shoulder. "Dude... you might want to look at this... Oh boy." He gulped. I turned around... Valentine was talking to Jen. "What is he doing?!" "Huh? What's that?" I looked to the right and saw people perching by a sand dune. I narrowed my eyes. "Ugh. Raiders. They're trying to raid us, AGAIN?! When will they learn? " They had sniper rifle and were aiming at something, someone. I quickly glanced where they were aiming for. My eyes widen. They were aiming at...Jen.

Jen's P.O.V

"Do you need any help miss?" I slowly looked up, and saw a tall, blonde boy extended his hand to me. I took his hand and pulled myself up. "Thank you...umm..." "I, am the great Valentine! The best, good-looking, master Archer! I welcome you to our base." He said, grinning. A light shade of blush appeared on my face, giggling at his remark. "Well, I---" " JEN! WATCH OUT!" "Huh?!" A tall, body went in front of me and grabbed me, holding me close. "Pat! What are you doing!?" I said, blushing crimson red. My body wasn't used to being too close to anyone, especially a boy.

"Sorry, but I'm doing this for your own good! Valentine! Get out of here! Now!" "Why?" He said, arms crossed and huffed. "FIRE!" *Gunshot* I screamed, stuffing my face towards his chest. He grunted and yelled over his shoulder, "Is that all you got!?" "Men! Battle stations!" He hollered. "Yes sir!" They all scrambled to towers and ditches, guns out. "Nah man! We just got started! Give us the girl, and we'll stop shoot your pathetic base!" "Like if I would! Men! Fire!" *gunshot* *gunshot* *gunshot* "C'mon, let's get out from the open." He said in a gentle tone. I nodded rapidly. "Place your back against me and walk towards the gate. I will protect you.I promise."

"How? You got shot earlier remember?! You're injured! You don't need to!" I protested. "You think one bullet will affect me? I have a bulletproof vest under my armor. I'll be fine." He said resuring me. "But I---" "Pat! You're in plain sight!" Biff yelled. "I know! I'm going to take her to Jellybean's house!" He yelled. "Alright! Be safe man!" He said, and returning a bullet to the raiders. "Quickly, head to the gate." I slowly walked towards the gate, making sure that my back stayed near his chest. As we were beside the gate, he smashed a stone button and the iron door creeks open. We ran up a sand dune, and a other one, a other one, and two more until this happened.

I fell front flat in my face, spitting and coughing out sand that was in my mouth, eyes and nose. "Jen! Here, let me help you." He took out a towel and a canteen fill with water. He slowly dampened the towel and pressed it gently against my face, turning slightly pink while doing this. I quietly gasped and turned rosy pink since the water was cold and wasn't expecting this.

~ A FEW MINUTES LATER...~

"Thank you, Pat." I said, still blushing. "It's no biggie." He said, grinning. I smiled at him but frowned when I heard distant gunshots and yelling. I slowly sank my head, thinking it was my fault for the fight against the raiders. "Pat... you should've gave them me... to protect them. They're strong, wise, and masters at weapons and strategies. Me... I worthless. Heck, I can't even shoot a gun. Not even a pistol." I said, trying not to break down in tears but failed miserably and started to cry in front of him. He suddenly grabbed both of my shoulders and pushed my chin up and move my face close to his. My heart was pounding, my stomach was fluttering, turning a deep shade of red and kept on staring into his sapphire eyes. "Jennifer... I don't want to see you say that about yourself." He instantly turned serious and turned slightly red while telling me. " You are the most kind hearted person I ever met. Even though you didn't show it, I know deep down you are very kind. Don't you ever say that to yourself, don't beat yourself up, okay? Promise me to think about that about yourself, okay?" He said, now in a gentle tone. He lightly pressed the towel against my eyes, drying away the tears. We stared at each other and he lightly brushed away a few strands of my hair from my eyes and smiled. My heart was beating 200 miles per hour. I leaned over, and closed my eyes... but opened my eyes, disappointed and pulled away from the kiss.

I nodded my head, and smiled. "Good." He grinned and stands up, extending a hand to me. I smiled and took it and dusted off the sand from my clothing. "C'mon, let's keep going! I said, walking towards. "Yeah, not so fast Jen." He said, grabbing my hand and did the unexpected. I immediately gasped and blushed. He picked me up, and I piggyback him. "H-h-hey! Put me down!" "And why's that?" He smirked. "B-because, I'm heavy!" "Pfft! Yeah right! You're light! Like a potato!"

"I'm going to carry you, the entire time until we reached the house okay?" At that point, I couldn't argue anymore. "Fine!" I huffed and grunted. I was mad but I was enjoying this. "*Laughs*" We continued our journey towards Jellybean's house until sundown.
