Song: Heaven by PVRIS

——————————————————

Laura sits on a red king size bed in a motel as she talks to someone across from her. There's a shift in view as a blinding orange light shines from a silhouette of a man. It takes me a few moments to realize it's Shadow.

As my eyes open, I notice that our legs are intertwined below the bed covers and his arm is draped around me securely. We are facing each other but he's much taller, so sometime during the night my face ended up nuzzled in his neck. I look up and see him sleeping, his lips parted and a light breath fanning out onto my forehead.

I place my mouth on his neck, kissing sensually to wake him up gently. His eyes are still closed, but his lips now turn up into a genuine smile.

"Hi," he whispers in a groggy, half asleep voice.

"Hi," I smile up at him, a strong feeling of happiness overwhelming me.

"Morning," he groans.

"I had a dream. At least I think it was a dream," I muttered.

He leans up, putting his arms behind him to hold his weight, "of what?"

"Shadow," I said quietly.

"And?"

"Laura," I muttered.

"The dead wife?!" He looked at me with anger.

"Yeah. They're talking in some motel," I informed.

"Get your things. We have to go now, while ya know where they are," he orders.

I grab my clothes from yesterday and pack them into a bag before changing into clean ones. Then, I put everything we brought inside the night before into the truck parked right outside the door.

We loaded into the truck and drove off as I tried to astral project to Shadow so that I could see their exact location. All I could tell before was that they're at a motel.

"Can you turn the radio on? It'll help me focus," I asked.

"Sure thing," he turned the nob and a alternative song came on.

"Thanks," I flashed an appreciative smile at him.

I focused on the singer's high notes to harness power. A tingling feeling covered all over my body and my vision started to fade away.

I smiled at Mad when our eyes met to let him know that I will be fine. His face faded to a picture of black static before opening up into a parking lot.

I couldn't feel the ground beneath my feet but I could see myself walking forward. I looked around the empty parking lot and spotted two ravens sitting on top of the motel sign. I looked to the name displayed on the sign. Starbrite.

My vision quickly snapped back to the front seat of the truck. My breathing was face paced and Mad had a worried look on his face.

"I'm okay," I couldn't say but a couple words at a time, "I'm okay...I saw it...the sign...Starbrite...Motel."

He placed his hand lovingly on my arm and smiled.

I finally caught my breath, "I also saw Huginn and Muninn perched on top of the sign, watching Shadow."

He shot his head my direction and grunted in frustration, "damn fucking birds."

The rest of the drive there, we just held each other's hand and listened to the radio. It was going to be a rough night.
