"Three! ... no response."
The voices rung deep within me. Hard to explain but I didn't just hear them, I felt them; the vibration of each syllable pulling me closer and closer. "C'mon!" There it was again dragging me in. My eyes were closed but I could tell that I was in a bright room, "We've got a pulse!" The noise just kept pulling me closer to the light. What was this? I thought as I attempted to move my heavy lids with all the energy I had left in me. Wait, where am I? Why can't I open my eyes? I panicked
"Her pulse isn't steady! It's dropping!"
There it was again. I felt as if I was floating in the direction of the noise. The bright light became brighter each time I heard that same speech repeat itself .. it was almost blinding-
"Ah" I sighed loudly as my body sat up on its own accord. I began coughing as I tried to take in as much oxygen as I could
"It's a miracle.."
I turned towards the noise and realised it was a doctor that wore a cloak that was pretty dirty with specks of dust here and there. His name tag read 'Dr. Grey' and it was chipped at the right top corner of it. Eventually, my coughing stopped and I continued to take in my surroundings. Everything was so... clear?
"Teddy? Teddy.. how do you feel?" The noise penetrated my bloodstream and I jumped a little
"You're too loud." I spoke dryly and was immediately handed water to drink. I gulped the entire thing in one go but I needed a lot more. More chatters filled the room as I tried to concentrate. I felt as if I could hear conversations from outside of the room. I have to get out of here. I pulled my feet over the edge of the bed and pulled the tubes from inside my wrist, the tube from my nose and the clip from my index finger.
"Ma'am you cannot do that. You just came out of a terrible accident. You need time to rest." Dr. Grey gently spoke but it irritated me. I needed peace and quiet at that point in time
"No I have to go." I tried to stay calm because I felt crazy. He sighed and behind the smell of breath mints, I smelt the burger he had for lunch.
"No!" I screamed looking him dead in his eyes, "let me go." I couldn't take it anymore
Dr. Grey took a step to the side and I stared at him in confusion. "Wha..what's going on?"
He smiled at me and clasped his hands together, "you wanted to go. You're free to go." He sounded almost robotic
"What?" I started and a nurse came over
"Dr. Grey? She just woke up from an accident." He said and Dr. Grey smiled and responded with "she's perfectly fine. No tests needed, no more resting time."
"But Dr, she was on the verge of dying." The nurse proceeded
"She's fine like I said." Dr. Grey started to walk around the bed I was in shutting off the machines, taking out the stuff that restricted me from moving too far
"But.."
"Sampson, are you telling me how to do my job?" Dr. Grey stared at him intently and Sampson shook his head no. Once I was free I got up fully feeling a slight bit dizzy but there was no way I was gonna show it there for the doctors to pull me back into that dreadful bed. I seemed to have gotten used to the loud chattering because I didn't jump much when I heard people talk. I gathered my purse that was sat next to the bed and made my way out the double doors.
"Teddy!"
I made eye contact with my mom who had a few less eyelashes than she did before. Her eyes were an orangey pink colour and her pupils looked tired. What?! I thought to myself how the hell do I know how many lashes she has? I pushed past her as she attempted to hug me and ran out of the hospital which didn't take too long considering the long hall I went through.
"Ah!" I immediately dropped to my knees and grabbed my head as the noises around grew on me, "No! What the hell's happening to me!" I felt tears fill my eyes even before they caused my eyes to feel tingly, I felt them coming! I felt my cold blood racing through my body and going into the heart, coming out of the heart and radiating through my entire body once again. This feeling was on repeat and didn't seem to stop. My heart... my heart echoed in my ears giving me a dreadful headache-
"Ma'am, are you alright?" I felt a hand on my shoulder and I moved away from it quickly even before it fully touched me, "whoaa" the man said because of my fast movement
"I.. I don't know .. I don't know!" I felt the tears roll down my cheeks. The tears were hot and gradually became ice cold. Thoughts of why I was over analysing everything crossed my mind once more and I grabbed my head again feeling trapped in my thoughts and body.
"I'll get help. There's a hospital right over here." The man considered and I shook my head continuously, "Look, I'm sure they can help you." He tried to reassure me but I needed to be left alone
"No!" I got up and ran and when I stopped, I realised that I was on the next street. "What the hell!" I panted trying to take in as much oxygen as I could. "The next street? How did I get here so quickly?!" I shouted at nothing in particular. I leant against the wall on the left side of me as I began to get even more thirsty. I felt like my entire body was going to shut down from how dehydrated it was so I took this upon myself to walk towards the corner store opposite me
"Ma'am you don't look too good." Nobody seemed to mind their own damn business! I turned to the shopkeeper and gave a fake smile and continued on my walk to the transparent fridge where the drinks were kept. I pulled out two 1L water bottles and placed them on the counter. I went into my purse and paid but it was difficult since my hands shook as I picked up the change to give to the man. He stared at me suspiciously and cleared his throat, "I can see how you're trying to stay clean. You'll get through this." He gave me a 'reassuring' smile and I gave him a confused look. This bastard thinks I'm on drugs! I kissed my teeth and took the water bottles off the counter, made my way out and started to walk home. I sipped on my water because I didn't want others to see me devour it in one go as I'd done with the other bottle. I had to control myself and not lose control.. that's the way of life right? Have control or lose control..? Right..? Fuck it! I squeezed the bottle and the cold liquid slid down my dry throat making it a bit better. The bottle was finished within seconds and I dashed it on the floor in front of me kicking it out of frustration because it didn't quench my thirst.
"Ouch"  A voice spoke quietly but I heard it loud and clear. I walked towards the person not because I wanted to but because I was drawn to them. Usually, I'd have minded my own business due to the fact that it was dark but maybe it was because the dark didn't phase my eyesight or maybe it was the sweet smell in the air or maybe it was the fact that - call me crazy but, I could hear.. almost hear the pulse on the person going BOOM ... BOOM continuously.
"Hey erm I tripped on this bottle and fell on glass.." the girl chuckled nervously when she'd spotted me, "clumsy right? Erm.. do you have a plaster by chance?"
The words lingered in the air between us slowly moving towards my direction before going through my ear and out. That's exactly how slowly I heard her speak over the BOOM ... BOOM noise I was trying to block out. The smell had gotten pretty intense by now and I heard a dripping sound. It was faint, but it was there and a subtle splashing sound was also heard. I looked in the direction of the sound and there it was filled with the sweet aroma that grew even more intense by each dripping noise. Her leg. The girl's leg. Her leg was-
"Please.. I.. I'm bleeding."
