Chapter 5 - "Meet the Alphas."

"You didn't have to come all the way here, Alpha Blythe." Tatum called as she and Angier reached the bottom of the stairs. Alpha Marcus Blythe looked up to nod in greeting and Angier gave a slight bow of his head, but Tatum stuck to nodding back as she was taught.

"I wasn't going to let my only sister come all the way to this town, without formally introducing her to the Alpha," Marcus said with a polite smile, shrugging. At the mention of 'sister,' Tatum finally looked at the girl in question, offering her a nod as well. Francesca Blythe looked at Tatum for the first time, taking in her pajamas and roughly done hair for a second before she finally met Tatum's eyes, giving her a small smile.

Well, if the girl insisted on coming here at this hour of the night, then that was what she would get.

Tatum glanced at Angier quickly and saw that his gaze was transfixed on his Mate, probably drinking in the sight of her after a whole week of texting and calling. Tatum would bet anything at that moment that, the only reason he was holding himself back from pulling his Mate into his arms and breathing in her scent was because Alpha Blythe was there.

"Ah, he's here." Maarika proclaimed as Tatum's father, Alpha Basil Karas entered the room and everyone stood up in respect. He was an intimidating man in his early fifties with the same jet black hair that Tatum'd inherited, peppered with a few gray hairs at the temples. His Grecian heritage which Tatum was thankful for—that gave all the Karas men and women exceptionally remarkable features—was currently spread in a welcoming smile on his face. He'd probably been out with his Beta having a drink or just chatting about something, because it was quite obvious from the relaxed look in his dark grey eyes that he'd been in a good mood.

"A pleasant surprise, Alpha Blythe. Oh, and you must be Francesca." The two Alphas shook hands and Basil gestured for all of them to take a seat. Tatum and Angier sat on both ends of the other three-person couch facing the one the Blythes were sitting on, and she was amazed that Angier had still not taken his eyes off his Mate.

Tatum as usual listened to every word and paid rapt attention to every facial reaction and other gestures made by the Alphas, strictly choosing to ignore the two love-struck Mates communicating with their eyes.

Well, that was just an eloquent way to say that they were eye-fucking each other.

Pleasantries were exchanged and formalities were taken care of, and after a little bit of just chatting about Packs and being Alphas in general, Marcus stood up along with his sister, grinning in a pleased manner. He'd informed Tatum's father that Francesca will be staying in the city, so that she can be closer to the college and not somewhere in their Pack territory—thank Goddess for that little blessing—but obviously, the whole reason for his visit there, was that he hoped that Alpha Karas would take care of the most precious member of his family and in case of any emergencies, if he'd be able to send some warriors quickly to make sure everything was alright.

Tatum's father assured him that of course, he would do that, after all, she wasn't just a guest but a future member of their Pack, as she was Mated to the boy who was like his second pup.

Tatum internally winced at her own father brother-zoning Angier.

It seemed like everyone thought that they were siblings.

"Well then, I'll be off. Thanks a lot for meeting me at this ungodly hour, Alpha Karas. I had no choice but to come now, due to the important commitment I have to attend early in the morning tomorrow." Marcus apologized for the last time as he extended his hand for a shake, and after saying goodbye to everyone he turned to his sister, "I'll be waiting in the car. Make it quick."
