Chapter 22 - I Might Be Able To Get An Instinctual Feel,

Say, what!?

"Who—how—What?" Tatum was completely speechless. She was unable to process anything except the fact that the guy she'd always assumed was dead, the one who she'd thought was the reason for all the grief and tragedy she'd gone through, was standing alive, and breathing, and perfectly fine, in front of her.

What in the actual hell?

If he's not dead, then why did Alpha Kyler say that he was dead at around the exact time she'd felt that godawful pain?

What she was able to process was the fact that her Wolf was utterly silent, and she was not feeling any of those instinctual emotions or pull towards him that were the telltale signs used by soulmates to find each other.

Which meant that he was not her Mate.

"Uh, yes. I believe you were informed about my death?" Llewellyn said uncertainly, and the rigid set of his shoulders and nervous smile betrayed how difficult this seemed to be for him, as well.

So, Tatum made a visible effort to push away the million questions in her mind and calm down.

"Um, yes!" Tatum exclaimed loudly, despite her best efforts not to, "And since the approximate time of your death according to the doctors was the same as when they declared my Mate no more, I obviously assumed that you were my Mate. Looks like nothing I just said is true, though." She crossed her arms, glaring at the stranger as the surprise inside of her now morphed to rage and confusion.

In fact, she was starting to get more pissed off by the second.

And more suspicious.

What kind of sorcery had he used?

Or, did something really happen? Like a near-death experience which was mistaken by the healers in their pack?

If that was the case, then why didn't their Wolves feel the Mate pull?

So obviously, there weren't Mates, right?

Fuck. Now, Tatum will have to search relentlessly until she finds her real, probable Mate and know everything about him.

Just the thought was like a nightmare.

"Yes, I completely understand how this must seem," Llewellyn—or was he even Llew? Maybe an evil twin?—raised his hands in defense, looking as innocent as they came, "I don't know if we're Mates either. But, I think I can tell you my side of the story. Maybe that'll clear up things."

Tatum raised an eyebrow in suspicion, narrowing her indigo eyes at the guy. He looked her in the eye in reply, not twitching or looking away or showing any signs of dishonesty.
