The cabin

Chapter 28

Kirstie POV

"So what are we doing today?!" Avi asked excitedly.

"Well, I'm making lunch. We can eat and then do something." Esther suggested.

"Whatcha makin'?" Kevin asked.

"Just some sandwhiches." She laughed.

"Hey! We should go on a hike!" Scott beamed.

"Ooo! That sounds fun!" Mitch said.

"And we can eat our lunch on the way." Avi said.

"Sounds like a plan! Let me just finish these up, and we'll head out." Esther said.

She finished the last couple and we all helped with packing the food.

"Let's GOOOOO!!" Scott said, leading the way out the door.

We walked for awhile and ate our sandwhiches on the way. We were all laughing and having a great time, until I had a very unsettling feeling. Almost like someone, or something was following us....

I scooted closer to Avi and looked around. Maybe I'm just parinoid. Yeah, that's it.

"You okay, babe?" He asked, noticing my strange behavior.

"Y-yeah.... Fine..." I said.

"You don't seem fine.." He said and stopped to look at me.

"Avi, please. Can we just stay with the others I don't want to get lost.." I said walking faster to catch up with them.

I suddenly feel his arms wrap around from behind me as he walks with me.

"Everything's okay, babe." He says in my ear, and pecks my cheek before unwrapping his arms.

He laces his fingers with mine, and I begin to feel a little more safe. I begin to admire the trees and things to try and shake the feeling of us being followed, but this is a forest. Who knows what lurks in the darkness of the trees....

*SNAP*

"Oh my god what was that?!?!" I whirl around and look everywhere.

"Kirstie! Chill, it's okay. It was just a twig snapping. Why are you so jumpy?.." Avi asks and tightens his grip around my waist.

"It's just...." I sigh. "Nothing... It's nothing."

Suddenly there rustling in the bushes. Over to my right, then left, then right again.

"A-Avi...." I studder.

Everyone is looking around trying to find the source. There's nothing to be seen, but a low growl emerges from deep withen the foliage.
