"i know a really good cafe around here", jisoo smiled warmly.
when minkyung was on her way to the bookstore, she had a smile she found she could never wipe off. what was going on?
nevertheless, butterflies were erupting in her stomach as she thought about the simple lunch she was going to have with jisoo.
it was really the little things that stay etched in one's mind.
once she had reached the bookstore, she peeked in like she always did. she looked around for awhile before locking her gaze with his.
her cheeks started to tint a light shade of pink as she smiled sheepishly, glancing down for a second before making her way towards the counter.
"hey", jisoo greeted her.
"hi", minkyung smiled, slightly bowing.
even the simplest gesture made minkyung's heart melt. she didn't really know why.
"i'll cover for you, okay. have fun!", jeonghan told jisoo with a proud smile before the two left.
"thanks!", jisoo quickly said before they made their way towards their lunch venue. although, minkyung didn't exactly know where they would be having their lunch. jisoo had suggested a nearby cafe.
as long as there was food, she'd be just fine.
"my friends work at the cafe we're heading to", jisoo said. "they're really nice".
"glad to know", minkyung replied with a nod, earning a smile from the other.
minkyung hadn't noticed that there was a cafe at the mall. she only went to market there to get groceries. other than that, she barely ever explored the whole mall.
"joshua! ", someone called out in english when they had reached the cafe.
she noticed a young man beaming at them from the counter. his eyes were squinted almost into an eye smile, and minkyung couldn't help but find it adorable.
(a/n : kind of like this heheh ;)) ok now back to the story)
joshua...?
jisoo walked towards the counter and they shared a friendly hug before he gestured for her to come over.
"this is soonyoung", he smiled and they exchanged formal greetings.
"i see you didn't come alone", soonyoung had stated the obvious after he glanced at minkyung for awhile. minkyung only grinned.
"this is minkyung", jisoo said almost proudly. soonyoung nodded and looked at the two with a subtle smirk, to which jisoo quickly whispered something to him.
"ah... welcome to twenties' cafe!", soonyoung said. "table for two? right this way", he smiled warmly, leading them to a table.
jisoo chuckled. he knew this wasn't something usually done by soonyoung in a cafe. after all, we'd only get led to a table in fancy restaurants.
once they were seated, they looked through the menu provided before jisoo went to the order counter.
minkyung rested her head on the palm of her hand, simply gazing out of the cafe window. there wasn't really anything on her mind. there was just thoughts about having this lunch with her potential love interest.
isn't it weird to suddenly start developing feelings for someone you just met three days ago?
minkyung barely knew anything about him. yet here she was, contemplating on her feelings for him. maybe it was fate. maybe it was truly love at first sight. she didn't know. she wasn't some kind of love expert.
she was snapped back into reality when she heard jisoo settling down on the chair infront of her.
"so... how was your day so far?", jisoo started, handing minkyung her drink.
"it was fine", minkyung smiled. the aura was awkward but somehow comforting.
"do you mind me asking a question?", minkyung asked when the name 'joshua' popped into her head. jisoo nodded, gesturing for her to continue.
"why did... soonyoung... call you joshua? ".
"ah... i figured we'd have this conversation one day", jisoo said with a laugh, earning one from minkyung too.
"i actually came from los angeles. joshua is my american name ", jisoo smiled. "i moved to korea a few years ago. i basically lived my whole life in america before moving here in seoul".
minkyung gasped, surprised. "wa... you're american?". jisoo nodded, laughing.
"that's so cool! what's it like there?".
"it's really fun! the weather there is really nice. there are lots of different food as well! and the people are super kind", jisoo continued to tell her the wonders of america.
minkyung was truly amused. if she had a chance to travel the world, america would be her first country to visit.
"i really want to go there", minkyung let out a sigh.
"really? you should!", jisoo encouraged her. minkyung's smile suddenly started fading. she looked down at her drink, biting her lower lip.
"i- ", minkyung pursed her lips into a thin line. "i... i don't think i can... ".
jisoo frowned in more of concern. he noticed that minkyung had gotten a little uncomfortable. he wanted to ask why but seeing how minkyung looked rather uncertain, he erased the question from his mind.
"that's fine. maybe one day you'll be able to", jisoo smiled assuringly, hoping it made minkyung feel less pressured.
"yeah", minkyung let out a nervous chuckle. "maybe one day".
