"i'm going for my appointment! ", minkyung called out for her mother.
"be back home on time alright! ", her mother replied soon after, and minkyung hummed in response before stepping out of her house.
it was slightly breezier that day, or maybe it was just her since she hasn't fully recovered from her fever.
she stuffed her hands into the pockets of her hoodie, letting out a breath.
it had actually been a fairly long time since she fell sick. she almost forget how it felt like to have a fever, until that day.
minkyung soon arrived at the hospital counter, with the help of the directions in her diary, breathing out. most days, she would find herself there. although, it never occurred to her that she felt comfortable.
"you can proceed straight to doctor haerin's room", ms namjoo, the nurse who was always there to greet minkyung with a smile, said after they had finished a small conversation.
minkyung nodded in gratitude, before making her way towards the doctor's room.
"hi minkyung ", doctor haerin smiled as she saw her expected patient entering the room. "hey doctor haerin", minkyung greeted back.
"how has your day been so far? ", doctor haerin first asked as she gathered her notes and pen while minkyung sat in front of her.
"it was okay. i hope you're doing well", minkyung smiled.
"i've been great, thank you for your concern", doctor haerin nodded, finally settling down.
"let's start, shall we?". minkyung pursed her lips. "we won't be carrying out the complexed procedures. it'll just be the short and sweet session for today".
minkyung found herself breathing out in relief. she didn't know exactly why. maybe the complexed procedures were just something she never got used to throughout all her medical check ups.
"so, can you tell me briefly about your week?", doctor haerin started.
"i actually caught a fever on sunday and couldn't get out of bed for the next 3 days", minkyung said with a chuckle.
doctor haerin smiled and minkyung continued to babble on about what she did during those 3 days with the best recalling she could manage.
when their session was finally done, doctor haerin looked surprised at how well she had improved. "you're starting to recall things better, did you notice that?". minkyung widened her eyes.
"do you think she's coming today?", a particularly very curious latter questioned his colleague.
"i'm starting to think you only come to work just to see her", jeonghan chuckled as he organised the books on the shelf jisoo happened to be leaning on, who was constantly looking out at the entrance of the bookstore.
jisoo let out another sigh, possibly the 7th time that day.
"do you think she forgot about me?".
"impossible ! after everything you two did together? there's no way she would forget someone like you", jeonghan pat his shoulder.
"that's the nicest thing you've ever said about me", jisoo, in turn, chuckled. jeonghan looked at him before letting out a sigh. he's never seen his friend so etched on the thought of that someone ever.
it was so unlikely of jisoo yet jeonghan was so mesmerized by this character jisoo had displayed ever since minkyung appeared in his life.
jeonghan was always so amazed by his close friend. how this american boy stepped into korea and settled in at once with so much ease. how much jeonghan watched him grow, it was so astonishing.
being only two months older than jisoo, jeonghan still felt the need to keep him under his watch as if he was his own younger brother. and truly, he couldn't ask for anyone better.
"maybe you should wait 'till tomorrow", jeonghan said. "she might be sick, you know?".
jisoo sighed yet again, nodding and giving jeonghan a small smile of gratitude. he then pushed himself off the side of the book shelf and went to attend to a nearby customer. jeonghan shook his head in amusement.
