letter ten | the final letter

dear hailey,

it's been five years since my last letter.
and a lot has happened.

let's start with the basics, shall we?

grayson cheated on you with your sister,
he left you for her,
and that was the last thing i heard from you.

besides your letters of apology i
received after, of course.
you begged for my forgiveness,
and you begged for me back.

you told me that you were sorry,
that you still loved me,
and that you wanted me back.

that you missed me.

it's funny, though.
it's funny that your apology only comes once you go through the agony i felt, for yourself.

but it's okay.

i forgive you.

because now i'm living in a home with my amazing fiancé, whom i welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world, with, two years ago.
now she's pregnant with our son, and i couldn't be happier.

she gives me something you could never give me. loyalty, love.

endless love.

i thought i'd never be able to find love again after what you did, but i was wrong.

all your actions did was make it easier for me to see the beauty in people, rather than the bad. because all i can see in you now, hailey, is the bad.

but i'm glad you know how it feels.

i begged to have you come back to me for so long, and i got nothing in return. i begged for your forgiveness, though i did absolutely nothing wrong.

but now, you're doing the exact same. i keep receiving letters from you, to which i laugh at, and throw into the trash can, the same place where i threw your wedding ring, long long ago.

the same place where all of my love and admiration for you went.

and i'm so fucking glad it did.
