"Veronica?" I asked surprised to see the event planner standing behind the front desk. I recall she had told me in our conversation she was a hotel concierge. Out of all the hotels in London, I never thought we would pick the one she worked at.
Her head snapped up from the computer when she heard her name. She saw me and her expression changed to surprise and her eyes lit up, "Alex Smith!" She chimed a smile breaking across her face. I could feel my friends staring at me with curious expressions as to how I knew the woman checking us in.
"How are you?" I questioned. Her bright smile had fell into a gentle smirk as she stopped typing at the computer.
"Oh, you know..." She trailed flipping her long dark hair casually over her shoulder. I nodded understanding she was busy, but that wasn't always a bad thing. "How about you, all well? Have you been to anymore weddings?"
"Couldn't be better, " I told her honestly. I was still in shock our paths crossed again, " and lord no." I said thankfully and she nodded.
"Well, that's a bummer..." She said almost sadly. Her reaction made me wonder if she was actually looking for me at any of the events she had recently planned. Her eyes moved toward Trott and she remembered she was checking him in before I interrupted. Veronica gave him an apologetic smile and looked down at the computer.
"Mr. Chris Trott, three rooms." She smiled up at him. He nodded his approval and she continued, "Will this be one bill or on three?" She asked looking at each of us. I swore she hovered over me a little longer than the rest of my mates and her smile grew the slightest bit into a smirk.
"Three," Ross answered as I couldn't seem to find the words as I watched her carefully work.
"Great, just give me a sec..." She mumbled and tapped on the keyboard while also clicking the mouse. I watched her intently until Ross kicked my shoe. I looked down at his foot for a moment before rising my gaze to his face; giving him a dirty look.
"Mate, why don't you take a picture?" He suggested and my jaw clenched.
"Why don't you shut up, mate?" I raised an eyebrow at him and he rolled his eyes.
"Y'all are just like brothers." She said with a giggle, "May I see a card please, it doesn't matter who's." She told us and Trott slid her the plastic card to make the transaction. She seemed almost nervous with us standing there, "Okay, next,"
Ross pulled his card out of his wallet almost at the same exact time as myself. So, I ushered him to continue and he gave me a shake of his head as Trott gathered his things and moved away from the desk waiting for us.
She handed Ross's back with a smile as he followed Trott, but not without saying, "Don't forget to kiss her."
I felt my cheeks heat up slightly as her's turned a deep shade of red. She giggled and followed him with her eyes.
I cleared my throat, "I'm so sorry about that." I apologized and she shook her head.
"It happens more often then you think." She said sweetly and I felt jealously swell in my chest. I don't know why that was, I've only had one previous conversation with this girl, "Your card, please?"
"Oh, right." I said handing it too her. I could hear my friends snickering at me from behind.
"So, Veronica," I pressed and she looked up at me for a brief second with her gorgeous eyes. I felt myself weaken at the knees and loose all smoothness I once had, "You..." I trailed, "You enjoy London?" I asked trying to recover myself. Although it wasn't what I wanted to say.
