AN. It took me hours to write both chapter 2 and 3. It also took 3 rewrites for me to feel satisfied. Chapter 2 and 3 are suppose to be together but it's unreasonably long so I decided to broke it down into 2 chapters. Chapter 3 though, is shorter than I expected.

Anyway, enjoy.

Chapter 2

As ironic as it sounds, I hated wedding. I love picking up flowers, looking for dresses that will suit the bride and grooms, picking out rings and testing all the delicious wedding cakes and food. But I hate the idea of wedding; for me, people who are willing to commit their life with someone else are plain stupid and I believe that love doesn’t exist.

I do believe that my brother and Lucas love me, heck I’m even sure that Lucas’ whole family love me and treated me as if my last name is also Knight. But I don’t believe that couples will love each other until their death. I’m always sure it was something else that keeps them together. Like money, for example. I’ve come to meet a few women or men who only stayed as long as they are with their spouse because of wealth and great sex.

Mine was no different. New York is a busy city which means you will meet people everywhere especially in a college party. Back then I was different from who I am now. When the plane landed in New York, I convinced myself to find the right guy for me and we would fall in love and live happily ever after. Stupid, I know, but I was a young naïve girl.  So when I told Lucas about it, he just laughed it off and said, “You just might, but I doubt that.” Which cause me to pout and frown.

But a few weeks after college started, I was invited to a party by some chicks from my English class. I happily accepted and invited Lucas to come along which he politely decline due to the fact that he was going to watch an American football match. I shrugged it off and went to the party anyway. The party was just like any high school party, nothing special or different. But I do meet someone different and he changed my life for good.

I stood in front of Lucas’ apartment, the hours of flight has caused any energy from my body to drain and not to mention the crazy jet lagged. I knock on the door several times as I take in the surrounding. It is not just any apartment, it looks rich and posh, I’m pretty sure the inside is just as lavish too. The door opened, revealing a very shirtless and only in boxers Lucas. His blonde hair is at every place, and his eyes are half open, indicating he just woken up from a very long sleep. As soon as he realized it’s me though, his face lit up with a smile and engulfed me into a giant bear hug.

“Lucas… can’t… breathe…” I chocked out as he released me from his arm.

“I miss you Tori.” He gave me a crooked smile, showing off his perfect white teeth

“I miss you too Lucas. Now, are we just going to stand here or what?” I asked, raising an eyebrow to which he just chuckled and step aside, letting me in. I pulled my yellow suitcase along with me.

I was right; the apartment is just as lavish. There is a huge plasma tv sitting in the living room with countless of dvds stack in the racks beside and two controllers sitting on a coffee table. There’s a huge white grand piano sitting by the window glass which shows off London’s beauty and city lights. So this is what a bachelor apartment looks like. I am a little disappointed, as a bachelorette myself;my apartment is not as different from his.

“So, ready for your room?” he asked and I nodded. He led me to a hallway which has two doors. He opens the one on the right which let me assume that the left one is his. I step into the room and am amaze by the beauty. Sitting in the middle is a queen size bed with a soft pink veranda on it. There is a window and a seat by it. There is also another door which I assume is a walk in closet and a bathroom. There’s also a bookshelves at the corner and a small study desk with a mac computer on it.

“You like it?” Lucas asked, “It took me days to decorate it just so it suit you and your taste.”

            “That’s not necessary.”

He chuckled softly and said, “Oh but it is; you’re doing me this huge favour helping my sister out and you’re staying here for what, 2 months? Why not make yourself at home?”

I stayed silent for a minute, honestly, I have never cared what kind of environment I’m in, as long as it means I could continue burying myself in piles and piles of work that is sitting on the desk – or in some cases, on the floor – and just shut myself out from the world.

“Thank you.” I whispered silently to which he just shrugged silently, acknowledging it before leaving the room silently. I took that as my cue to start unpacking.

The whole unpacking took longer than I thought. Well, I am going to be staying here for 2 months, might as well pack as many as I can. I sit on the sofa, watching Taken 2 with Lucas sitting on the other edge. It’s just like old times again. We spend a whole lot of time together, but we were never romantically involved. It’s too weird to think of Lucas that way, he’s so much like a brother to me and I know the feelings are mutual.

“I’m going to get my ear chop because of you. It’s crazy how I spend more time with you than my girlfriend. Maybe I should just ask you out instead.” He would joke. But of course, the jokes are harmless and we both know that. The only people who never seemed to understand completely are both our girlfriends and boyfriends. From time to time, the two of us would get dumped just because we spend too much time with each other.

We fell into silence again for a couple minutes or so, both of us watching the movie intently. But of course the peaceful silent just has to be broken by the sound of the phone ringing. Lucas whips out his phone and frown at the caller before answering.

“What?” he snapped. I could hear the person on the other speaking really fast and all the words are incoherent for me to listen; it was a wonder how Lucas could comprehend what they are saying.

“What do you mean there’s a fraud? Can’t you fix it? I’m in the middle of something.” He paused, “No, I’m not having sex. Are you crazy?”

I tried to suppress the giggle that is threatening to escape from my lips, but of course, I failed, miserably might I add. Lucas glare playfully at me before rolling his eyes continue his conversation with the caller. I zone out of the rest of the conversation and continue watching the movie. It is when I heard Lucas sigh I turn to look at him.

“What? Is something wrong?” I asked.

“Yeah, someone has made a fraud and is risking on jeopardizing the whole company.” He explains, rubbing the back of his neck. That is the sign that he is stress or nervous, in this case I’m sure it is stress than nervous. It is one of his habits that I have taken notice through our years of friendship.

“Then go fix your problem. I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?” he asked to which I just rolled my eyes and nodded. I’m not a baby and I know perfectly well how to take care of myself.

He left a few minutes later, reminding me to lock the door and not to go anywhere and just do something effective in the apartment. But of course, doing something effective for me means drowning myself at work; so I left the couch and went to my room  to start planning on the wedding which is only 2 months away.
