Chapter 9

Ashley's P.O.V

I got up from the chair and went outside the school and I ran straight to my car and I immediately turn on the ignition.

While I was driving, I prayed that Cassie is with him. He's one of our closest friends here and I know that if ever Cassie has a problem, he will seek for his advice.

I gripped the steering wheel with much more effort. My hands are sweaty because of nervousness; I wiped my hands on my jeans as I took a u-turn near his house.

As soon as I parked my car behind their house, I opened the door and I got off the car.

My feet are numb like cold ice, so I dragged myself to his front door. I know I don't need to knock because all his friends, including me, can go inside his house as long as his parents are not at home.

When I opened the door, I was not surprised to see Cassie talking to John in the living room sitting on the couch.

The good thing about his couch is that it is facing the wall the other way around so I can hear their conversation without them seeing me. I hid under the couch and pry to their conversation.

“I never expect them to forgive me easily,” Cassie spoke. “And I know it was my entire fault if I didn’t lie to them then they wouldn’t get angry. “

It’s not her entire fault. If only I was aware of what she’s feeling then maybe, just maybe this won’t happen to her.

“It’s not you fault Cass, Ashley already forgave you, what is their problem?” He questioned her. “You can’t let them get to you. You need to talk to Jonathan about what happened earlier.” John said.

After their short conversation I decided to show up. I mean I’ve been prying to their conversation and if they found out that I’ve been hiding here then I’d be totally embarrassed.

I sneezed exaggeratedly, loud enough for both of them to hear it. Their heads automatically look towards my direction so I smiled sheepishly.

“Hi!” I greeted them as I stood up. “What are you doing here?” John asked. “Oh, I’ve been looking for Cassie and I decided to check if she’s here." That’s partially true but that’s not really my intention. He knew I was lying. I’m not a good liar, anyone would know that.

“Let me rephrase that,” He took a step forward as I took a step backwards.

“Why are you under the couch?” He narrowed his eyes at me as he took a last step forward. “I… uh... I” I stuttered and I look down on the floor because that’s the only thing I could look at right now.

“Hey John, can I talk to Ashley? Alone?” Cassie rescued me from further embarrassment. He shifted his gaze from me to Cassie.

I took a deep breath and I looked at John. “John, I’m sorry that I eavesdopped to your conversation with Cass but I’m here to talk to her.” He looked at me as if analyzing if I’m lying. “Okay, but if you’re going to ask me to leave, I’m not; first, this is my house. Second I want to hear what you’re going to say to her.” He pointed his finger to Cassie.

“So are you okay with that?” He asked as he raised his eyebrows in curiosity.

I rolled my eyes. As if, I have no other option. If I say no to him then he won’t let me speak to Cassie.

“Okay fine.” So I gestured for them to seat down on the couch and I face the both of them.

“What did they say to you?” I asked Cassie straightforward.

She was shocked to say it at least. “How did you know?"

Her eyes are as big as a giant egg. Oh, I love eggs especially the big ones. I'm so hungry; I haven't eaten my Lunch because I went straight here.

Uh eggs with bacon,

That’s yummy!

"What’s yummy?" Cassie asked. Oh my Gosh. I said that out loud!! That’s so embarrassing!

“Huh? I didn’t say anything” I said frantically. It’s so embarrassing.

Gosh I’m lying again; I should really stop lying to my friends. It makes me feel bad.

“Yeah right.” She rolled her eyes and looked at me. “You can’t lie to me Ashley; I’ve been your best friend ever since we were kids, so stop it ‘because it’s kind of annoying.”

Normally, I would just laugh at that but now that she’s not in the mood it made me scared. ”Okay, sorry.” I apologized because I kept a lot of secrets.

I should really keep my promise to her; I shouldn’t lie to any of my friends. I mean that’s why we’re friends right? To be there for each other and to share some secrets that will cherish our moment for the rest of our lives.

“They hate me for lying to them.” She started. I looked into her eyes. I know what she’s talking about so I urged her to continue.

“They said that I envied you they believe that that’s the reason why I did that to you.” She mumbled as she plays with her hand. She does that a lot when she’s nervous.

“You shouldn’t listen to them Cass you should know that by now. All they do is make fun of you and they’ll say crazy things to you just to make you feel sad.”

“All they said to you is full of bull okay?” I stopped her hands from moving and that made her look at me.

“Listen to me Cassie this is not your fault because you know to yourself that this is not your intention right? I mean you said sorry already, so stop worrying because you’re better than them.”

“What if-

"They won’t do anything to you. I will make sure of that.”

And that’s for sure. I will make them suffer for what they did. Wait for my revenge especially you Mr. Anderson.
