I walked downstairs and seen my mom cooking. "Good morning mom! Whatcha making?" She turned around and smiled, chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and eggs. "I have to go in 10 minutes, your school schedule is on the island. I'll see you after school baby." I nodded and she grabbed her stuff and walked to the restroom. I made myself a plate of food and ate before washing the dishes and getting ready for school. I took my backpack, locked the door and walked to school. When I got to school I walked and met all of my teachers beforehand and found my locker which is by my 5th period class. I put some stuff in there and proceeded to my first period class. I seen this girl sitting alone at the tables and I walked to her.
"Hi, This seat taken?" She was stuck in her phone, looked up at me for a brief moment and shook her head no. I sat next to her and she put her phone down.
"My name's Khaya, but I prefer to be called by my middle name which is Oliviana, just call me Ollie." I nodded.
"I'm Kaela, it's nice to meet you Ollie." She shook my hand.
"So where are you from Kaela?" I laughed at that question.
"Well I was born in Chicago, raised all over the country but my most recent move was from Florida." She nodded.
"Well, where was your favorite place to live?" I thought about that question for a bit.
"I'd have to say Southern Texas." She nodded.
"Well, I've lived here in Kemal, Michigan my entire life with my parents. My mom is a doctor and my dad works for the government, so they're always gone." I nodded in interest.
"My dad left when my mom was pregnant with me and my mom is a travel nurse, which is why I was raised all over the country." She nodded.
"Well maybe we can hangout soon! I definitely need a new friend right now." I nodded and we exchanged numbers. I never make friends where we move to because we move so often.
Class had began and about 20 minutes into class this guy walked in. He looked like the type that just didn't care. I guess I was staring because Ollie had nudged me.
"Kaela, that's Ray Prescott, the school's fuckboy. So you can stop staring unless you like to get hurt." I laughed and nodded. Ray had sat down a few tables away from me. I couldn't help but look at him, he's so pretty. I looked over at him and he was already looking at me. No, he had to be looking passed me. There's no way he was looking at me, Kaela Maggi. I looked away and looked back at him and he was still staring my way. He smirked and turned to face the board. I started taking class notes again until the end of class. Ollie has glued to her phone the entire time. Once the bell rang we all got up and started to head out of class.
"Hey Kaela! There's a party this Friday you should totally come! Maybe you can even stay the night at my place after so we can have a sleepover." I nodded.
"Yeah sure, I have to make sure it's cool with my mom first but I don't see why not." She nodded.
"Okay! I'll see you later Kaela!" I waved at her and went to my next class. I sat quietly and did my work, that same pattern happens for the rest of the day.
