Julian held out his hand. "I'll teleport us out of here," he explained.
Victoria took his hand. She watched as the world disappeared. A second later it reappeared. They were not in he cave anymore. They were in a house. The interior was gorgeous. Everything was perfectly color coordinated. The walls were a light lemon while the furniture was a combination of light brown and white. Victoria couldn't wait to explore the house. Judging by the size of the living room, the house was huge. There must be so many hiding spots and secrets to find. Victoria would find them all.
"Vincent! I'm back!" Julian yelled.
That was her brother's name. She heard the pounding of feet. She assumed they were on stairs.
"Julian! Did you find her?" Her brother asked as he entered the room.
Victoria scowled slightly. She was ready to give him a second chance but she didn't forgive him.
As her brother came closer, he saw Victoria's small frame. A huge grin burst across his face.
"Victoria! Is it really you?" her brother asked. He enveloped her in a hug. "I've missed you so much!"
Vincent then held her an arms length away and inspected her. He was surprised. He had expected to see her in a dress. Instead, she was wearing the clothes that he bought for her. "These clothes suit you well," he remarked. He was pleased with his decision.
"Thank you," Victoria stiffly said. She might be mad at him but she would still be polite.
Noticing her discomfort, Vincent asked, " Are you still mad at me?"
"Yes, but I will allow you a second chance," Victoria replied.
"Thank you. I will do my best to be the best brother," Vincent promised.
"Don't make promises you can't keep," Victoria answered.
Vincent sighed. He was well aware of what she was referring to. She didn't understand that he couldn't protect her while figuring out this world. He technically did not break his promise. He was here now. Everything he did was to protect her. He left his planet in a war to give his sister a better life. He left her in the monastery so he could bring her into a settled household and keep her safe from the Black Dragons.
It would be harder to enter her good graces, he realized. She has held a grudge for 5 years while barely knowing him. He was lucky she even gave him a second chance. He would keep his promise with no room for doubt.
For the next 5 years he upheld his promise. He spent as much time possible with her. He got to know her. He played games with her. He allowed her to be a child. She made friends with the neighbors. He gave her the best childhood possible. He wished he could train her. Sadly, that was the cost of taking 5 years off. He had to go back to the White Tiger. He would come back as often as possible.
