I was awoken to someone flicking my nose; I blinked and saw my mom grinning. I rolled my eyes sitting up slowly; I noticed that the needle was out of my arm. I fixed the shirt strap and sat back; I turned to her, “So… how was your night.”

She rolled her eyes at me, “Fine, how was yours.”

I shrugged smiling, “Got shot saved my friends from being robbed and helped an intern through her first shooting victim.”

My mom laughed shaking her head at me.

The day past by fast; doctors said I had to stay another night for observations and my friends called telling me to get better and they cleaned my car for me. I wasn’t suppose to take a shower because of my stitches or well not yet but I felt gross so I washed my hair then used a rag washing my body and around my wound.

My mom told me she would be here first thing in the morning to come pick me up but until then I had to sleep.

I looked around bored then got out of bed walking down the hall slowly while holding my side. It still hurt very badly but I wasn’t going to stay bed ridden.

I heard crying and peeked into the room, a girl was sitting there crying while a baby cried next to her. I walked in, “Hey?”

She sniffed looking up, “Who are you.”

I smiled, “Faith, you?”

She rubbed her nose, “Shelby and this is Christopher.” I looked at the baby, “he is beautiful… if you don't mind me asking… Why are you crying?”

She sniffed rubbing her eyes, “My boyfriend is on a plane ride over here and won’t be here till morning and I can’t sleep by myself.”

I walked over slowly climbing into the bed next to her, “I can substitute.”

She sniffed, “Why?”

She looked a looked like she was 18, “Because I can’t sleep either and you look like you need it more than I do.”

She sniffed moving and wrapped her arms around my arm and closed her eyes, in seconds she was out it was kind of funny to watch. I glanced at the baby and noticed he was already asleep as well.

I hummed looking around bored.

I just sat their bored counting I got to about 4000 when the door opened and a guy walked in panting he saw us and looked confused.

He came closer, “Who are you?”

I smiled, “Your girlfriends substitute, she couldn't sleep so I was helping her.” I slowly lifted her off of me, “Here kept it warm for you.”

He slid in without hesitation then glanced over at the baby boy and smiled with pride I bowed, “Nice to be of service, tell her I might see her another day.”

I walked out heading back to my room it was already 5 in the morning so my mom would be here in like an hour.

I just lay in bed till she came.

“Honey are you sure your fine?” I laughed and nodded, “I'm good.”

She sighed and kissed my head leaving, it has been a few days since I got back and my mom had a date with Jared and I didn't really like him, I don't know why I did I just didn't.

She was worried to leave me by myself because she was worried I would pass out or something. I took a quick shower and bandaged my side then pulled a loose pajama shirt on.
