The hallway is silent this morning as I lock the door of my apartment. I'm surprised because surely people should be up and ready by now, eager to start a day's work. The sooner it starts the sooner it finishes. Then again I've always been an early riser, although most of my classes in uni started in the afternoon I would be up and dressed at 7am. Even as a young girl I could never stand the thought of lying in bed or wondering about in my pajamas, it makes me cringe even thinking about it.

I'm dragged away from my thoughts when a loud slam echoes through the hallway. I turn towards the noise and am relieved to see that it's just Liam shutting his door before heading out for his morning run.

"Morning Phoenix!" Liam's smooth voice carries down the hallway as he shoots a quick smile in my direction before kneeling to tie the laces on his Nikes.

"Morning Li, found a job yet?" I've known Liam for four months now. We both moved in next door to each other fresh out of university, I was lucky enough to get a job at the architectural company a few streets down but things haven't been as easy for Liam.

"Believe it or not I did, y'know Zayn right? Course you do. Anyway he's got a friend who teaches boxing in the gym round the corner and his recent partner moved away so he's offered me his place! Can you believe it? After four months of searching I've found something right under my nose." He's smiling so hard that the crinkles by his eyes are more prominent than ever.

"I'm happy for you Li! I knew you'd find somewhere soon, you have talent. Who's this Zayn guy, the name rings a bell but I'm pretty sure I've never met or spoken to a guy called Zayn?" By now I'm curious and as attentive as ever.

"I'm not that good Phee you're just trying to stay on my good side!" He laughs. "I'm sure I've mentioned Zayn before, he did my tattoos remember?"

Everything's clicked into place. I pass the sign daily 'Zayn's tattoos and piercings'.

"Is he any good? I've been meaning to get another. Tattoo I mean, on my collar bone."

"Fantastic. One of the best at what he does. I'll be going by later tonight if you want to join me? It's where I'm meeting my new boss and you know how much I value your opinion." It's true, Liam runs most things by me first. I'm like his older sister.

"You know I hate meeting new people Li. If it's one person I'm fine but more than one just makes me anxious and nauseous!" I groan.

"But Phee! It'll be night, there won't be many people there and you'll have me! Anyway it's about time you got out and made friends, you've been here four months and the only person you've spoken to is me. Pleaseeeeee?" He whines. I look up to his face and into his eyes, one of the reasons I managed to speak to Liam was because of those damn eyes. So trustworthy and warm.

"Urgh fine! Just stop with the puppy eyes. Right I really have to go otherwise I'll be late for work, text me the details Li!" I shout as I hurry towards the stairs.

I hear a faint bye being shouted after me as I rush down the stairs, somehow managing to trip only once. The only problem with this apartment block is the lack of a lift.((A/N elevator, sorry I'm British)) I check my watch and am relieved to see that I still have time for my usual Starbucks run. Although it's winter, when I walk through the double doors it isn't a hot drink I'm craving. When it's my turn to order I purchase my favourites, a large cool lime refresher and an almond croissant. I make my way towards the doors I came through when a rough shove knocks me into the wall, my white blouse is no longer white but brown, hot and sticky.

"Shit!" I curse out loud. Why today of all days. Every Monday my boss holds one to one meetings with his employers to set out a task for the week.

"Are you okay?" A deep raspy voice questions.

"Jesus Christ! What do you think?!" I close to scream at the voice. By now I've accumulated several napkins and am trying my best to clean up but it's no use.

"Well you should've watched where you were going! This isn't all my fault little miss daydream!" I look up to put a face to the ever so harsh voice. I'm surprised when I see a boy about my age, with startling green eyes and a mass of chocolate curls hidden beneath a beanie furrowing his eyebrows at me.

"I think you'll find that you were the one that bumped into me! Just apologise and everything will be sorted." I retort.

"Ha I don't think so, you were rude so you don't get an apology." He smirks. By now I am beyond frustrated, is an ordinary day too much to ask for?

"I'm late for work get out of my way, you've already ruined my day." I sass back at him whilst glaring. He returns the glare but doesn't say a word as I pick up my breakfast and storm through the doors. I feel a tug on my arm and I turn around to be met with those same piercing eyes.

"You owe me a coffee." He states before walking away.

I make my way towards work shrugging off the laughs and stares I get, mentally preparing myself for the day ahead.
