Why? [Young!Reinhardt x Reader] [College AU!]

He never really understood why

Why you kept that huge smile on your face

When he knew...

He knew...

But he didn't stop you...

You were a student in the college he studied in. Both of you being acquainted with one another seeing as, you were both friends before...but you both just stopped talking with one another. That lead to the both of you forgetting one another even existed. 

He remembered the day he saw you alone at the benches, reading a novel assigned for you to read by your Literature teacher. He remembered walking up to you and greeting you with his big smile.

He remembered how you sat there, unwary of the man in front of you. He felt awkward in the first time you met, so he left. However you who acted cold and somewhat nonchalant to your surrounding knew he was there. You just didn't like the presence.

xx years later

College came. Students running around searching for dorm rooms and class rooms in their schedule. Reinhardt became popular after starring in a contest of strength held by the German Special Forces. Girls swarmed around him admiring his muscly build. In all the ruckus he was caught in he noticed one girl who stood by the corner talking to 2 of what he guessed was her friends. He smiled seeing as the girl who ignored him wasn't ignoring anyone else. 

Your smile, the smile he now saw changed him. From you he learned how to smile better, make it spread to others...

Not knowing it was all a ruse

In the  everyone was stressing out. Almost all the students had missing units before they could get their degree. One of them being Reinhardt.

He needed more units to be accepted in the German special forces in the fight against the omnics. To be accepted in the program for the Crusaders he needed 4 more units. He ran around the halls, bumping into students left and right; each of them stressed for the requirements to pass and get that sweet sweet degree. 

Out of sheer luck it would seem

He bumped into you

He was startled and tried to help you up but you just rushed him away and rushed from him faraway.

He noticed you dropped a letter of some sort, opening it slowly he peeked. Inside he found an accepted application form for the German Special Forces: Medic Unit...

Why would you cry because of that he thought, shouldn't you be happy?

Then the sudden realization slapped him right across the face. Your Letter. He still has your letter!

Sheisse! He exclaimed as he ran to the direction he came from

So now why?

Why did you let go?

You had achieved so many things

Things he dreamed he could do

He dreamed he could do with you

But he couldn't

Because you were gone.

THIS JUST IN AN OMNIC ATTACK HAS OCCURRED AT ########## UNIVERSITY

Thousands were injured and unfortunately 12 have perished.

His ears perked up at what he heard, an attack at his university?

He was at the training camp for the GSF after he got the required units to be able to get included in the list. He was going to be here for a week or so and it lucky for him to not be there when this happened but...

Were you okay?

In the 12 students who perished  others were able to escape because of their sacrifice. Especially one female student who was able to short circuit the school's electric system to provide a mass explosion in the area where 78% of the omnic forces gathered.

Her name being (Y/N)(L/N)
