What makes a good survivor?

Is it the actions in which is completed that make a good survivor? Or is it what they strive towards what makes a good survivor? At this point...

Who knows?

Of course the island and all of its inhabitants never really seemed to care what a newly created entity was striving for. It all seemed to boil down to whether or not they could live through what was thrown at them. That's the argument some would cast upon the questioner. But then, what happens if you die?

Does that necessarily make a bad survivor? Or does it simply prove that there is such a thing as bad luck. Someone being at the right place at the wrong time, wrong place wrong time and so forth. Is it the amount of time? What you're capable of doing? Or is it just a matter of sectioning off those who aren't talented? Is what is placed before us just a big test?

At this current time, it really isn't easy to say. The island holds many secrets. Some have been revealed by those who came before, and much still has left to be discovered.

Now comes the subject....Those who came before...who are they exactly?

From whatever little they have left behind, their names are clear. Mei-Yin, Helena, Rockwell and so forth. Records from what they have discovered can be found anywhere from the mountain tops, to the ocean floor, from the thickest forests, to the open beaches. Each with their own unique experiences and opinions.

From what our past fellow survivors have left us, we can learn about the area that surrounds us, the creatures, resources and benefits that dwells within them and whatever else that might be hiding. However that does not give you the know-how to actually survive. There are some, unfortunately, who believe they do. More often then not, they are the ones that perish.

There is a saying among those who remain on the island. That of which describes the very essence of life there.

"He who does not respect that which is order, will undergo the wrath of what the islands withholds."

It is up to you, whether or not you believe it. Personally, I know it's true. There is power that is being held from our visions. Something that not even the guardian himself can explain. Yet, why is it that we are forbidden to enter the obelisk rings? Why does he prevent us from diving underneath all we have ever thought and into the unknown?

Perhaps there is something he keeps from us, something unnatural. Reading through the documents uncovered from the previous explorers, I have been able to gather some insight on what may be hiding. However I can confirm nothing. For these are simple recordings from those who my tribe deems insane. Which also brings upon me the question of why we use so much of their findings to survive ourselves?

Surely there is some reason we call Rockwell and his remedies untrustworthy and yet still use them to heal ourselves? Whatever those reasons may be, Dire is hiding something from us. And Aregen seems to be the only one that really cares. Not that I don't. No.

He just has the bravery (or stupidity) to oppose him. Though I have went against his commands and read these notes back to front, I haven't the courage to go somewhere I will be unwelcome. The hidden lake will forever and always be my home. Unless I'm ever caught that is. However evidence would be hard to come by considering whatever we find is stored in our....implants.

Strange thing those implants are. Able to hold almost whatever we desire. Is it the very source of our energy? I believe so. In my writings I have recorded my own thoughts (which also isn't allowed). Inspired by the other authors, I have focused my observations on my own implant. It records every aspect of our lives. Fascinating.

I can't quite comprehend why my tribe-mates don't share the same curiosity. Perhaps it's fear. Perhaps it's disinterest. Perhaps something else...

Well before I am spotted getting far too into my notes, I suppose I should call it a night. Who knows when I will be able to record like this again. Perhaps soon. Hopefully.
