Kell is a small village nestled in the Frigid Mountains and wrapped in the freezing winds of the Northern Continent. This child of chaos is swaddled in it, as beyond its walls rage blizzards, and dark beasts stalk its paths for an easy meal.
Inside the magically reinforced walls lies a long dormant stronghold for magic users and academics alike. The home of ancient guilds, the cradle of the oldest and most fearsome armies, and the birthplace of magical intelligensia, Kell is a living historic treasure to humans and the unhuman alike.
What makes Kell so special? Why does its name crop up time and time again in our history books? The answer lies with the natural elements surrounding it, and a certain spell cast nine centuries ago.
The natural elements that breathe life into Kell are called Casts. These are areas where magical energies flow outward from the earth. A special ring of these Casts pours into the little space of Kell, providing energy for machinery, for protection, for advanced experimentation, and for magical concentrations not thought possible before its discovery.
The founders of Kell cast a spell to keep the casts from running dry, and Kell has remained a magical hub for centuries after.

Kell is currently run by Seornn the Gryphon, and it's inhabitance all curiously contract bird-like behaviors upon extended stays. There is no explaination for this phenomena, just as there is no avoiding it.
Now, reader, you have a short overview of Kell. Hopefully this is enough to get you started on your journey.
