I stood in the front office the next morning waiting for the new guy. Apparently his name is Jaron Garret. He obviously isn't good at showing up on time. I've been in this boring dusty office that smells of white out and rusty metal, since I got to school this morning. Second period is almost over, which means Jaron is more then 2 hours late. I'm growing more and more restless, and uncomfortable at the thought of missing my classes for someone I don't know,as the minutes pass by.
"Uh, excuse me, Miss. Aurelia?"
I turn around from staring out the window and look at the frail, old woman sitting behind a desk.
"Yes ma'am?" I say politely.
"What exactly are you doing? You've been in this office all day. Don't you have classes to get to?"
I smile slightly. "Yes ma'am, I do. But, Mr. Norman wanted me to show a new student around." I look around and say, "On second thought, I'm kind of tired of waiting. So I think I'm going to go."
"Well alright, have a nice day."
"You too ma'am."
I grab my bag off of the little chair I had it on in the corner and grab the door handle when..
I sit on the floor rubbing my head with my hand while I keep hearing, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!"
"No, no it's fine. Really. I wasn't paying attention."
A hand reaches out and I grab ahold of it and stand up. I removed my hand from my face and find myself looking into some really, really brown eyes.
I cough and back up. "Um, hey."
"Hey, I'm Jaron. I'm new here."
My mouth falls open and I stare at the brown haired, brown eyed, teenage boy in front of me.
"Jaron Garret?" I ask with disbelief.
"Uh, yeah. How'd you know?"
I snapped out of my temporary shock and slap him across the head.
(Keep in mind, this is all still happening in the office doorway.)
"Ow! What the hell was that for?" He says loudly.
I slap him again. "Shh! Why are you being so loud?"
Jaron rolls his eyes. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe because somebody I don't even know just slapped me on the head. Twice!"
I grab his arm and pull him out into the hallway. "Well, " I say. "I wouldn't have done that if you would have just shown up on time."
"What? How does this even effect you?"
"It effects me, because I missed two classes today. Because of you!"
"Look, " He says crossing his arms across his chest. "I don't know you. So why would you miss two classes because of me?"
"Because idiot. I'm tasked with the job to show you around today." I say angrily. I push my hair out of my face and remember that I'm supposed to look perfect. I try to get my hair back to where it belongs.
Growing more frustrated I tell Jaron, "I'm going to the bathroom. Follow me."
He scoffs. "Why would I do that?"
I look back at him. "Fine, do what you want. I don't care."
I walk out of the door and head down the hallway to the bathroom. "Hey you, wait up!" I hear Jaron yell behind me.
"My name is Aurelia by the way."
"Hmm. Nice name."
"Thanks."
We stop outside of the bathroom and tell Jaron to wait. "I'll be right back."
I walk inside and set my bag down next to the sink. Looking into the mirror I slightly grimace.
Good thing no one saw me like this.
After fixing my hair and straightening my shirt I walk outside the bathroom to Jaron.
"Finally." He says. "You've been in there forever."
"It's only been 3 minutes dipwad!"
"Dipwad?"
"Yes, dipwad." I pull my cellphone out and check the time. Class is almost over and we only have a few minutes until the hallways are crowded with restless teenagers.
"Ok," I begin walking. "We have a lot of the same classes together so I can take you to those when the time comes. But Jaron?"
"Yeah?"
I turn around to face him and say, "Don't expect special treatment from anyone at this school. They look nice but I'm warning you. They can be very vicious when they want to be so just, be careful."
