Well, here ya go.

Another chapter to add to the collection.

I'm becoming less and less creative on what to put here.

All I'll say is this is the longest chapter I've written so I hope you enjoy.

Chapter 4: Just keep swimming

-----

Day 1: Earth at its cruelest

Stella stepped down from the dropship a considerably amount slower than the rest of the group. She was just trying to absorb everything Earth had to offer her in those first moments of freedom.

No more bland colors, bland food, or bland people. Finally, something fresh and new, just how Stella liked it. There's not much of it back on the Ark.

She walked forward slightly, enjoying the sound her boots made as they dug into the soil as she tilted her head back to see the soft blue sky that was dotted with giant clouds which reminded her of cotton balls. Surrounding her were trees, as tall as skyscrapers, that leaned over the dropship site as if they were watching the teens experience the most freedom they've ever had.

Stella approached the trees slowly, not with caution, but with wonder. She had always wondered what the texture of a tree was. Raising her hand, palm forward, towards the tree, she gently let her fingertips graze the damp bark that was coated with morning dew. Stella then looked up, peering through the vibrant green leaves towards the sky while the sun's rays seeped through them, a light breeze making the rays dance across her face.

She closed her eyes. This is Earth.

"Hey, sunshine!" someone chirped from behind her.

Stella turned around to see Jasper and Monty.

A smile graced her lips, "Hey, guys."

They walked forward and plopped down on the dirt in front of her.

"Story time!" Jasper exclaimed, clapping his hands together with a grin.

"Ok, then," she said, letting out a light laugh before taking a seat on the ground, "What story?"

"Yours!"

Her eyes widened slightly as she looked at the two excited boys in front of her. She felt like she was talking to two six year olds. Not that she minded, though. She enjoyed the company after being deprived of it for so long.

"Whatcha wanna know?"

"Hmm," Jasper hummed in deep thought.

Monty looked between the two before piping up, "How about your name and age?"

Stella nodded. That's simple enough.

"The name's Stella O'Brian, and I'm twenty."

The obviously threw them off big time. Everyone knew that once you turned eighteen, you went in for a hearing and your fate was determined there: be released or get floated, and for most people, their fate was the latter. That is, unless, you find yourself with the same luck Stella did.
