I don't know why I'm here. I don't know why I decided to look after this old shack, I could've just sold it after all. But I guess there was some sort of pull. My gut was telling me to give it a chance.
I love the city, really I do. But there's something to be said about living in a community where everyone knows one another. I'd never had that. Grandpa would've wanted me to have that.
And what is there to lose? So what if I hate it? I can always sell it, move across the country, start all over... again.
"Okay, last stop," the bus driver called our, jolting me out of my own head. I slung my bag over my shoulder, slid my phone into my pocket, and made my way towards the front of the bus.
"Enjoy your stay, ma'am," he said as I exited the vehicle.
As he pulled away I was suddenly aware of how empty this place was. I glanced at the broken, wooden sign welcoming me to Stardew Valley; unincorporated. You don't get much smaller than that.
"Excuse me," an older man called out, giving a warm smile, "Are you (y/n)?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah that's me," I answered, my head swimming with the newness of this place.
"Wonderful to meet you! There's been a buzz in the air, you know," he said, eyes sparkling.
"Oh?" I replied, the corners of my mouth lifting.
"Well it's not everyday we have a newcommer!" He took the crook of my arm with his hand before continuing, "Follow me, to your brand new adventure!"
