Days have passed and still no response from Megavolt. What was I thinking? Believing I could hit it off with a guy like him...
You know, I'm really at a loss now. I thought moving to St.Canard would do me some good, but it's been the exact opposite this past month. Nothing is going like planned at all.
I would return home- heck, it's been on my mind more than I'd like to admit- but I keep coming back to the same stupid conclusion: I'm just as much of a fish out of water there than I am here. If I stay, I'll be stuck in this big, dangerous city alone, never making something of myself. If I go home... I'll just prove everyone right about not being able to make it out here and no one'll ever take me seriously again (Not that I was taken very seriously before).
And now here I am, praying that some villain is gonna come to the rescue because he's my only hope in surviving out here.
I sigh. "What am I even doing...?" I grab a bucket and mop and begin cleaning the floor. I'm still taking over the drive thru nightshift for my friend, but my coworkers are making me do anything they're too lazy to do. This time some kid barfed all over the floor at the outside booth. Fun...
Ugh. This is so dumb. Why do I always have to-
"Hiya!"
"Ahhh!!" I turn around- and knock over the bucket- to find Megavolt. Gee, how many times has he interrupted, well, anything I do? The bucket, of course, spills. Megavolt takes a few steps back. "Hey, hey! Watch it, I could short circuit!"
"Oh! S-sorry..." We're off to a great start, aren't we? "... But to be fair... if you would just stop sneaking up on me..."
"Well maybe if you weren't so skittish-" Megavolt starts with a smirk. He just loves seeing me get flustered, doesn't he?
"I am not-" Don't start. This is your only shot at survival, remember? "Okay, fine. I'm skittish." I sigh. "So, what are you even doing here?"
"Well, I..." He stutters. "I got your note. Annnnd I decided I wanna hang out." He fails to hold back a smile.
"Wha- now? Right now? I'm- I'm kinda busy if you haven't noticed." I motion to the mess on the floor.
"Then I'll just wait 'till you're done!" He props his elbow up on the table and rests his head in his hand.
I sigh, but let a smile out. He's pretty eager to hang out with me! It's almost strange to see him act this way, and not pissed off. "The nightshift just started. I'm gonna be here for a while..." I answer apologetically.
Megavolt huffs in frustration and crosses his arms. Well, what does he want me to do? I can't just leave whenever I want. this is my job! Plus, I'm not going anywhere with my coworkers bossing me around. " I'm sorry, Megavolt, but I can't ditch! This job is my only source of income! (No thanks to you...) Look, you should probably just go before someone sees you, okay? We'll figure this out later."
He rolls his eyes, but suddenly he beams. "Wait here." He rushes behind the hippo shaped building. What is he up to...?
The lights flicker for a moment.
The building completely shuts down.
I hear employees groaning and screaming.
"Aw, come on!"
"What's happening?"
"It's a heist!"
"I don't get paid enough for this..."
Megavolt rushes back to me, a smirk on his snout. "Well, that fixes that. Can we go now?"
...
Well, I guess it's not really ditching if you can't work in the first place. "Uhh, yeah! Let me go grab my stuff..."
