She turned around and slammed her hands on the table.
"Where is it?!" Fauna yelled at me with rage filled eyes.
"I thought I told you, I have no idea." That's what I told her but oh, did I have an idea.
"Ugh, Eden I don't have time for this, I have a job interview and I can't do it without mom's watch!" Fauna looked frustrated but what got me was the fear, deep in her dark green eyes.
"Fine, it's behind that vase over there," I didn't want her to have it because before mom died, she was telling me about her watch, a family heirloom, and how it'd soon be mine. But of course, Fauna always gets everything. I try and tell myself that it's not because I'm not my parents' biological child. I try not to get jealous of Fauna because she is their real daughter, but sometimes I can't help it, even if mom said she loved us the same. Dad does too, but ever since mom died, he's hardly ever around.
"Thank you, now please get that breakfast in your mouth and sit in the car. Dad told me to drop you off at school, so don't let that get in the way of me getting a job."
I ate my bagel as fast as I could manage and quickly combed my, now curly, bright orange hair before I left.
She dropped me off at school and drove off the second I shut the door. Oh school, I love my school. I know what you might be thinking--stop it, get some help--but my school is the best. Miami's School of Arts. I love sketching, and I also dabble somewhere along the lines of photography. Music and dance is also one of my favorites, oh and don't even get me started on drama. So I guess you could say I was your average 16 year old girl. But even the school itself is beautiful, all the paintings and the colours and the--
"Hey new girl." I heard a voice come from behind me. I turned around to see a girl with- really pretty straight blonde hair, green eyes and extremely cute freckles around the bridge of her nose. It was Samantha--super rich-- Fitzgerald. I was here for two days and she was, well, she was nice? Or... I'm not really sure.
"Oh, hey Sam"
"Please, call me Samantha"
"Um ok Samantha, so um whatcha doin' here?"
"I take drama too, darling," Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
"Oh right, so... did you... need... something...?" She was staring at me so I got awkward.
"Yeah actually, I'm having a party at my huge mansion, and I wanted to be nice and invite you, since you're new and have, well, no friends. But don't feel so special. I'm sorta inviting everyone. And plus it would give me a great reputation. You know, being the nice girl and inviting someone who's as lonely as you, desperate for friends. And just so you know, you don't have to show up, but make sure to spread the word that I invited you, maybe something like; oh my god, Samantha Fitzgerald is like the nicest person ever. She actually invited me to her party and I'm so thankful. Okay?? Oh, and by the way you have like, really pretty eyes, and that shade of green looks kinda good with your orange hair. And you're kinda really pretty, for like, a redhead y'know." I was about to say something back, but I saw the teacher come in and just didn't respond to that backhanded compliment. Thanks, I guess?
"Hey guys." Mrs. Williams, our drama teacher, came in with a huge smile on her face, which I loved because it reminded me of--don't cry, please, please, do not cry--
"Um, Mrs. Williams, can I be excused for a minute?" My voice was a bit shakey but I managed.
"Of course, join us back here when you're ready, alright hun?" She said in the sweetest voice. I just love her.
