*7 years later*
Addilyn was sitting on her bed listening to music. After the song was over, treat you better came on. She immediately skipped through it.
She hadn't really seen Shawn in 5 years. Well of course they started to grow apart in the two years before he left.
Her phone rang and she picked it up.
"Hello?" She greeted.
"Addie! Have you seen Twitter?" A familiar voice asked. Melissa, her best friend.
"No, why?" She asked, suddenly getting up from her bed.
"Just check!" Melissa ordered.
Addilyn went onto Twitter and looked at the first thing to pop up on her feed.
'Star Shawn Mendes is going back to visit his hometown today. Missing his family and friends, he will be staying there for awhile.'
She stared at the tweet, with wide eyes. She put the phone back up to her ear and spoke.
"That's a lie right?"
"I don't think so."
There was a long moment of silence.
"This could be your chance, Addie!"
"I don't even really like him anymore. Plus, he probably still sees me as a sister!"
"Mmhm and I guess you'll find out today."
"What if I don't wanna find out!"
"I guess you'll have to deal with it."
"Wow. Thanks, Mel. That was so helpful." Addilyn sarcastically thanked.
"I know. Well I gotta go, bye!"
Addilyn dropped her phone on the bed and sighed. She couldn't deal with this right now. Correction, she didn't want to deal with this right now.

"Addilyn! Can you come down here for a second?" Her mom shouted.
"What is it, mom?" Addilyn answered, walking down the stairs.
"You remember Shawn, right?"
Addilyn stopped at the last step.
"Yes?" She questioned, suspiciously.
"He's just gotten back. He's next door as we speak."
"How do you know?"
"I still talk to Mrs. Mendes, If you have to know. I was wondering if you wanted to say hi."
"Why would I do that?" Addilyn scoffed.
"Well I just assumed since you guys used to be like siblings," Her mom said. "You guys grew up together."
"Yeah, but then he went off and became a star," Addilyn stated, bluntly. "He probably won't even remember me."
"I doubt that."
"Well if you don't mind I'm going back to my room." She turned towards the stairs.
Her mom sighed. "Well, I'll call you down if he happens to want to talk to you."
Addilyn turned around. "Please don't."
She walked back to her room and put her earbuds in. All she could think about was the boy next door.
