I was having a great night's sleep until my phone forced me conscious. I didn't know whoever was calling me but, for some godforsaken reason, I answered it anyway.
"Hello?" My groggy voice croaked as I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
"I need to speak with you in person, A.S.A.P," a soft voice echoed from the other side of the phone. I recalled it to be the officer from the other day.
"About what?" I whined, seeing it was 4AM.
"What we talked about yesterday," she paused for a second,"The Police station's closed so you'll have to come to my house."
"Why not talk around 11 or something?" I groan, rubbing my eyes.
"Because this is very urgent," she's so impatient.
She made it sound like I HAD to do this. Just metioning going to her house makes me nervous. 'This is all your fault, Melody' I thought angrily.
"And why should I agree?" I challenged, mostly because I really didn't want to get up yet.
"Because you don't want to get on my bad side," her voice growled challengingly, making me shiver slightly.
"Send me your address, I'll be there soon," I whispered quickly before ending the call.
I got out of bed unwillingly, my feet freezing automatically when they touched the wood flooring. I grabbed the nearest clean socks and covered my feet with their warmth. Then, followed by skinny jeans, a bra, and a t-shirt that people say looks really good on me. It said,'Good vibes only please,' and was pretty tight and a bit see-through, but still oddly comfortable.
I brushed my hair a bit and quickly ate a breath mint before tying up my shoes.
I checked my phone to see her house adress, it was also pretty close to my work.
It wasn't at all far away so I decided to just walk. Before I locked the door, I grabbed my coat and set off in the managable cold, my stomach churning. I began to wonder why meeting was so urgent. Also, why so early and at her house of all places?
I got there quickly, I wasn't prepared yet! I shook my head in an attempt to clear it enough to knock on the door.
It didn't really work but I still knocked quietly. She answered a second later, wearing a tight black t-shirt and grey sweatpants. Her hand held a coffee cup and she looked like she had been awake a while.
Her light green eyes bored into me and made me have to look at my hands uncomfortably.
"Come on in, June. Would you like some coffee?" She asked, moving out the way for me to pass by. Did she just call me by my nickname so soon?
I nodded awkwardly, twiddling my thumbs. This is so weird and uncomfortable.
"I can take your coat," she offered, setting down her cup and I quickly agreed, trying to take it off.
She helped me, lingering along my arms as she took my coat off. I cleared my throat nervously, quickly pulling my arms over my chest.
She laid it on a coat hook, next to her coat and grabbed her coffee cup once again. Hopefully the scents don't rub off on eachother.
"So, how have you been feeling?" She asked me, taking a step closer to me. I couldn't find my voice in the pool of my anxiety.
"U-uh, fine," I mumbled quietly, looking down. I saw her feet step closer to me again, I breathed out slowly.
"What did you say?" She humed, her hand coming up to my cheek, cupping it. I couldn't help but to lay my head in her warm hands.
"I'm fine," I spoke a little louder. I could feel the heat radiating off her body as I spoke.
She gently touched my chin and lifted my head up to look up at her."Good to hear, Juniper," My heart punched itself when she said my name.
"Okay, I guess," I stuttered, trying to avoid her deep gaze.
"Have you seen Kent since you talked to me at the police station?" It was hard to focus on what she's saying when our chests were this close.
"No," I breathed, not wanting to tell about what had happened while feeling a bit light-headed from everything escalating so quickly. No one else has ever had this much effect on me.
"Good," her voice sounded a bit possesive, her face hinting some jealousy. How could she be jealous when she's only known me for like a day?
"You can sit in the living room, I'll be there soon," she mumbled before leaving to make me coffee, I'm assuming.
I watched her for a second before going towards where the living room. The home was really nice, a normal size. But it looked like her mother decorated.
I giggled at my joke, sitting on the antique couch patiently. Her TV was pretty much the same as mine and she had framed police certificates on the walls and newspaper clippings on the coffee table.
I was bored, and for some reason I began to snoop through the clippings. They were of me, for my case? But it was more than the reports about my abusive 'boyfriend', there were also some new-looking pictures of me.
One was me buying groceries the other day, one of me at work and one with me and Kent 3 or 4 nights ago. 'This is beyond creepy!', I thought nervously,' It's like she's stalking my everyday life!'
Does her job allow this? That would be bullshit, I could sue! Does she watch me take showers and shit?!
My thoughts were interupted by footsteps entering the room. She gapsed, quickly setting the coffee down and grabbing the photos of me.
A mix of emotions suddely hit me because of that action. The Anger, fear, confusion began soaking into my pores as I didn't know what to do.
"What were those photos for?" I spoke slowly, standing with my knees wobbling. She looked up at me, her eyes full of some emotion I couldn't understand.
"W-work," her face turned a bit red. Does she think she could lie to me easily?
"And your work lets you stalk people?" I scoff, emphasizing the word stalk.
"I can explain!" She moaned desperatly.
"What is wrong with you?" I screamed in her face, pushing her shoulder hard. She didn't move an inch, which irritated me more.
She glared at me, standing up to her full height. She's so easily intimidating, I hate it!
But for some reason I looked right up at her with the most confident look. I don't know what got into me, I was standing up for myself.
"I'm not scared of you." I growled.
