After kiera's little heart to heart with her parents it was way past the time they had intended to leave. She was surprised when they had went outside with their luggage that was left, to see her dads personal car and on top of that he was going to drive but what surprised her even more was that they was driving to their destination (which she don't know yet) and not the airport taking one of her Fathers many private jets. Kiera's father has many businesses all over the world which leads him to have many different jets all over globe due to all the travelling he did in a day to different countries.
She cleared her throat of all the hoarseness from all the crying earlier "Where are we going?" She asked her parents not in the mood for surprises any more.
Her mother seem to catch the 'no bullshit tone' because she answered instantly "chestnut vale, it's one of those town where you have everything needed, grocery stores, diners, restaurant, private and public schools, library, bookstores, malls, parks anything you can think of" kiera nearly rolled her eyes at how cheerful her mother's voice sounded when she said 'mall' instead she voiced the thought that has been on her mind lately.
"Dad, so how are you gonna get to work then"
Her dad turned from the wheel to give her a half hearted smile before looking ahead.
"Perks of being the boss is that you can do whatever you want without getting fired plus it's only three hours away on wheels and about two hour or less in the air"
"Oh" was her simple reply. The rest of the car ride was spent with her mom trying to ease the tension between them. kiera would give them one and two fake smile and turn back to the window. Countless times kiera saw her mom mouth opening but closing before the word comes out. She could bet millions of dollars about what her mother was about to ask but don't know when. All of 'not being the same person she was years ago' is about letting go of the past and thinking about the future. Sure she can't let go of the past eternally ,one day but not today nor tomorrow it'll still haunt her but I'll stop just one day until then she'll be working to keep her life in order.
"You can ask, mom" her mom looked hesitant at first but curiosity seems to get the best of her because she let out a sigh of defeat and asked.
"What happened, I mean after you tried to commit suicide? Did someone find you or you didn't bother?"
"As you already knew I was depressed and lonely so I tried to commit suicide. I came home from school one day with no one to talk to, it was just me and my inner demons I wanted them to stop I didn't want to hear them I didn't want to remember the past I wanted everything to just go away so I put my trust into the razor blades to end this misery that people called life sometimes I would see people smiling and wonder if it's only me life so cruel to. Enough of that, I filled the tub with warm water and strip from head to toe and got in, I took up the blade and started cutting- it hurt like a bitch but I remind myself that I would find peace after all the pain. And with that in mind I cut myself the last time with tears dripping in the water"her mom was sobbing while her father had regret written all over his face, I guess hearing about your daughter's suicide mission can do that to you.
"I didn't expect to wake up-at least not in my bed with a bandage arm sadly, a maid had found me and patch me up apparently the cuts that I had made weren't deep enough to cut an artery but it was deep enough to left scars. If you look closely you'll see it" she showed them her wrist that was now occupied with a tattoo which she had used to cover.
"I had to beg the maid not to tell you guys literally. Luckily she was a nice one and she didn't"
"We really were worthless parents were we?"her mother said sighing now that the waterworks had stop.
"Yep" kiera said with no remorse.
"Well with time we promise to change that and we hope you will have the patients to deal with us. And I know you said you have forgiven us but we are truly are sorry" her father said bringing her mother's hand to his mouth kissing it not turning his head from the road.
