The beep of the heart moniter pierced the air. Nico stared at Will with intensity, squeezing his warm hand. The others had surrounded the bed, holding each others arms and hands.

"Nico," Hazel whispered tenderly, a tear in her eye. "There's no more time."

He shook his head, breath catching in his throat. No, he thought, no, no, no, please! Please don't take Will from him!

"Five more minutes," Nico croaked, eyes never leaving Will's peaceful face. A tear streaked down his face, rolling down his jaw and neck. "Just five more..."

Hazel nodded, leaning into Frank. Percy and Annabeth were looking down, Jason and Piper doing the same. Leo had decided to stand at the foot of the bed, his own tears evident.

Nico bit his lip, holding back a sob as Will's eyes remainded stubbornly closed. Nico laughed at that, causing the others to jump and look at him confused. Will had always been one to pick fights with brick walls, never standing down. It surprised Nico when he learned that, but he loved him all the same for it.

"He's not coming back, is he?" Nico whispered, glancing down at Will's tan hand. They were so smooth and beautiful. " He's really gone."

Tears welled in his eyes as the realization finally hit him. Staring down at Will's peaceful form, Nico could see what his friends had seen all along. Will was dead. A zombie he refused to let go of.

He stumbled out of his chair, not daring to look at his friends. He couldn't stand to see their eyes, see their pity. He just stood there and looked at the outlets that kept Will the way he was. Nico sniffled, bending down and ripping them out the wall. He threw the cords at the bed before slumping over, resting his head against the wall, body shaking from the force of his sorrow.

The loud beep the moniter have drive Nico wild. He wanted to slam the machine into the wall, throw the furniture out the window, and burn the entire place down. He felt his breathing become pants as he struggled for air.

His friends looked at him concerningly, Hazel tentivaly standing by his side. He squeezed his eyes shut, rocking back and forth on the floor.

It was his fault Will was dead, he thought miserably. If only he had shadow traveled, if only he hadn't been such a coward.  A strangled sob pushed it's way past his lips as he began to shake from his panic attack. The room began to grow narrow and chilly. He shuddered, holding his head with his hands. He couldn't do it alone, he couldn't...

"Nico?" A familiar voice rasped. A fit of coughs followed the words, along with audible gasps. Nico snapped his head up, scrambling to the bed. His eyes went wide when they met the very beautiful light hue of Will's eyes.

"Will," he half whispered, half cried. He threw his arms around Will's shoulders, holding onto him tightly. He peppered kisses on the side of his neck and face, petting his hair while crying. He had been repeating a mantra of I love you, I love you, I love you, without even realizing it.

Will smiled at him, raising a hand to touch his cheek gently. "I love you too," he whispered, coughing harder.

Nico jumped up and grabbed him a glass of water, ignoring his gawking friends. He tried to help Will sit up so that he could give him a drink but managed to spill most of it on his lap.

"Sorry, sorry," he murmered, setting down the glass when Will was finished with it. Will grinned widely at Nico, resting his head on his shoulder and intertwining their fingers together.

"Will, oh gods! You're okay!" Hazel exclaimed, rushing to his side. Percy and Jason approached the bed, giving him a tight hug and a slight reprimand for sleeping so long.

"Yeah, Solace, it's not fair that you get to sleep forever while we have to watch you," Leo joked, sitting on the edge of the bed.

Will chuckled. "I think I deserved a little break." He looked over at Nico and squeezed his hand, smiling gently at him. Nico sighed, wiping away any tears that had been left behind. He felt so happy with Will beside him, alive and moving and warm.

He knew that they were far from over with what had happened, but he was glad of it. It meant that Will was okay. He didn't care if he had to go to Tartarus and back to make sure of that.

He leaned over and kissed Will's lips softly before resting his head against his arm and closing his eyes. The noise from the room soon faded into the background as Nico listened to Will's heart beat, alive and well. The last thing he could remember of that day was Will's voice whisphering good night to him. Then he was asleep.
