Chapter Three - Robots

Wow. Technology sure has developed. This robot and many others like it have been programmed to lure and capture my kind for research. They have energy readers built into them so they can tell which are stronger and which are weaker, thus differentiating adult and child. But I'm a special case.

My energy levels are unpredictable and random. I can make them seem like whatever I want them to, deceiving the reader. My race can naturally read energy levels, knowing who to pick on and who to avoid. My energy levels are very high - I am definitely one to avoid.

Of course, no-one dares to mess with me anyway because I am Akane Kishi Zahaya, direct descendant of Kurio Ayaki Zahaya, the greatest and most feared of my race to ever have lived.

Our clan is the strongest of all clans, even outside our society. We are hailed and have been dubbed 'The Prime Clan' or 'The Main Family' for millennia.

We have ruled our race for as long as anyone can remember and have never dirtied our blood with others'. Each branch of our family is as important as the next and are all respected equally. Although, my branch is starting to be considered the Main branch just because we are direct descendants of Kurio Ayaki Zahaya, but we're just as special and important as all the other branches. However we are set in the biggest and original society. The branch families spread out to rule, guard and protect other societies.

I should report this incident to the council of our society, otherwise known as my parents.

I climb into the driver's seat and roll down the blacked-out window to see a very angry, very short man.

Before he could utter a syllable, give him a roll of 20's and say, "Just take it, and buy yourself a decent car. Oh, mind the corpse would you?"

I roll the window back up, and drive away leaving him gaping, speechless.

I drive to our base; the location is strictly confidential of course. I drive up to the keep in the black, beat up car, drive past the gates and pull up outside the mansion. Spotting the valet, I hop out of the car and say to him, "Take it to a junk yard."

He nods and I get the robot out and leave the car to him. I walk round to the back of the building and take the lift to the conference room. They would be there, with others.

The lift door pings open and I walked out into the conference room.

"Mum, Dad I've got news for you," I stared at them, standing by the lift. My mother dismisses the other people who are there and beckons me forward. As soon as the others are gone, I drop the robot onto the oval table and give the head to my mum. She is a genius in electrical stuff.

"It was programmed to locate, lure, and capture us," I start briefly filling them in, while walking around the room, "It has an energy level reader. It managed to take me by surprise, sad to say, and captured me. I snapped its neck off and examined its circuitry. I only gathered basic information and leave it to mother to obtain the detailed information."

"Thank you Akane. We will be sure to investigate this further. Retire to your room for now. You need rest after a most eventful day. Dinner will be caught by Do," my dad dismisses me. I nod and make a small bow, turn on my heel and catch the bullet aimed at my neck.

"Very good," my dad praises. I smirk out of his sight and walk out of the room.

On my way down the stairs, I spot Do, my cousin. Do is short for Dorinda. She spots me too and waves to me.

"Hey Akane!" she grins at me.

"Sup, Do?" I high-five her.

"Not much," she replies.

"Good because you're catching dinner," I smirk, starting to walk.

"Oh come on! I did it yesterday!" she moans.

"Dad's orders. Plus, it's good practice," I smile.

As we approach my room, I get out my keys and unlock the door. I sigh as I flop onto the black leather sofa and Do shuts the door.

"Tired?" she asks.

"Hell yeah. Just got kidnapped by a bloody robot," I tell her.

"You? No way. Tell me, tell me, tell me!" She sits down beside me.

I tell her the whole thing while she sits there, mesmerised. Honestly, that girl is so easily entertained, you could give her a balloon animal and she'll be shrieking with joy. But don't underestimate her - she's almost as strong as me.

"Woah," she whispers as soon as I finish.

"Uh-huh. I don't know what these robots are doing but someone's got to be behind it. A human wanting to wipe out our entire race? No, humans don't know we exist. One of our own kind? Playing a prank maybe? No," I frown, unable to come up with a plausible idea.

"Or maybe a huge supercomputer of a robot had a fluke or malfunctioned or was programmed to do this? Maybe it has a mind of its own? Like I-Robot!" Do squeaks with joy. I stare at her with a 'really?' look on my face.

"That is such an old movie. It's, like, over 3 centuries old!" I sigh at her ridiculous outburst.

"Fine! Be like that! I'm just saying it's a possibility!" she flings her hands up as if giving in.

She loves the 21st century. She still has her DVD player to watch movies. I always tell her to just scan it and load it onto a chip and watch it that way, but she says it ruins the experience and makes it seem less into the movie world. Honestly, you couldn't get more 'into the movie world' with the technology of this era. You basically have a chip on your neck that temporarily connects to your nerves and when you shut your eyes and will the movie to start, it starts and you are in the movie. You feel everything that happens and whatnot. As I said, you can't get any more 'into the movie world' than that.

"Well I'm off to catch dinner. Adios, Akane!" Do calls on her way out.

"That's Spanish!" I shout back.

"Whatever!" her voice is faint.

Lucky Do, I love hunting. I sigh as I lie down and play some music. Kerli. This is nice...

BANG!

My room shook. What the hell? I turned off my music and zipped down to the courtyard to find Do running into me, screaming.

"Do! What's up?" I shook her by the shoulders.

"A giant robot! It found us! It's attacking! I told you! It's the age of the robots!" she burst out.

"Do! This is not the time for an 'I told you so'!" I sigh.

The whole courtyard fell to the ground as a colossal robot emerged through the gates.

Holy Hell.
