Chapter Five: Feud

Morning came quicker than I was ready for, and I stumbled out of bed in a daze. The dream still ached in corners of my mind, a dull pain. Blaine woke up minutes after me, stalking into the bathroom to get ready. Yes, we were roommates now, and today was our second day. I stretched my arms above my head, yawning. A blue haze hung over Blaine's head, a constant reminder of the glow that would follow us everywhere. Blaine pulled on his Warblers blazer, the uniform of the 25 boys on the illustrious team. The navy blue material was just a reminder of the glee club I'd lost, and a pang of guilt hit my chest. You left them, Kurt. It's all your fault. I told myself, lamenting. Blaine must've caught me staring, because he chuckled.

"Hey, I have an idea!" He proclaimed, hazel eyes shining with childlike delight.

"Is that so?" I pulled on a blue button-down, skirting around Blaine to grab my messenger bag and get to class. Blaine caught my arm, though, and looked into my eyes giddily.

"This is a perfect idea! You... join the Warblers! You miss your old glee club, so this is your chance to find your voice again. Oh, please, Kurt? It'd be amazing!" Blaine pleaded, grabbing both of my hands and holding them in front of him. "Everyone's been talking about overthrowing Sebastian for weeks, and this our chance. The handsome, raven-haired lead and his hot, soprano boyfriend, hm?" My heart skipped a beat, tumbling through its rhythm blindly.

"Your... boyfriend, you said? Is that what this is, now?" I teased, biting my lip. Heat rose to Blaine's face, his cheeks flushing.

"Well... yes. I was going to ask you if you wanted to make this official. You're amazing, Kurt, and I want to be with you, no matter what anyone says about us. Please?" Blaine asked, smiling hopefully. Now, it was my turn to blush. I nodded.

"Yes, Blaine. Yes!" I whispered, sighing happily. Wait until I told Mercedes and Rachel! But that wasn't on my mind right now. All I cared about was Blaine. He grinned, gesturing to his Warblers jacket.

"The meeting is at 3 today. I already told most of them that you're coming, and they can't wait to meet you. They'll love you. We all do, Kurt," I smiled, though I had my doubts about whether or not this was true. I was nervous, I'll admit, and it felt like I was betraying my friends in the New Directions. Blaine must've picked up on that, because he grabbed me by the waist, pulled me to him and kissed me on the forehead. He smiled, making my heart thrum in my chest, an uneven rhythm. That damn smile...

"Kurt, sweetheart, I promise you. I'm their leader, and they'll listen to anything I say." His voice dropped, and he whispered in my ear, "I swear, I'll put you on a pedestal so high, it will be impossible for them to not adore you. So... please, just go, okay?" He mumbled, cupping my face in his palm. His eyes glinted, the mix of greens and golds tantalizing as I stood so close. I breathed in his scent, a comforting blend of soap and cologne. Blaine smiled, maneuvering around me and picking up his books.

I watched as he felt, his black shoes making echoing noises as he strutted down the hallway off to class. I lingered for a moment, debating whether or not to pull out my phone and call Rachel. I missed my best friend, and a rush of self-doubt hit my chest as I dialed her number. What if she's moved on, Kurt? They've all probably done so. That little, unsure voice in my head was pushed aside for now, and I waited for Rachel's chirpy voice to respond on the other end.

"Hey! Oh my gosh, I have so much to catch you up on, babes!" Rachel declared, putting me at ease. Good, she wasn't mad at me.. "So... how're things with Blaine..?" She sounded excited, and the sound of her voice made me miss her even more than I already did.

"We made it official this morning, actually. I really think he loves me, Rach. I'm joining the Warblers, too. I just want to be a part of his world, you know?" Rachel was silent for a second.
