Rose was just as beautiful for the flower she was named for. Her hair as dark as the night, skin as pale as porcelain. They always called her 'Snow White'- her mother, her father, and everyone else who came across her.
They ran across a large field where a farm house sat in the beautiful green grass. They were just looking for shelter. Somewhere to lay down her dying mother, and soon to be dead father. They had been bitten- both of them, on a run which Rose had encouraged them NOT to go on. But to her dismay, they did, leaving her alone with nothing but a knife in the broken down house they were staying at.
They ran, and ran, becoming closer and closer to the house. They got close enough before a few women, a younger and older man came out of the house, a gun in the younger mans hand. "Who are you people?" The older man questioned, his voice loud and stern.
Her father was carrying her mother bridal style, "Please, please. My wife, she was bitten, so am I. Please save her." But her father wasn't talking about saving his wife, he wanted them to save Rose.
"She's bitten, and so are you. There's nothing we can do," the old man yelled back.
"Save my girl, please. We're gonna die, she'll be on her own. Do you want that? A twelve year old girl out in the woods alone day and night, with- with those things?" His voice started crack as tears began pouring out of his eyes, Rose began shedding tears as well.
"Sir, we can't-"
"Dad," the younger woman cut him off. Rose admired her features- short brown hair, dark blue eyes. "We can't let her die out there," her voice turned to a whisper, "we couldn't save Annette, we couldn't save Shawn- but we can save her."
The older man looked at his daughter, considering the thought. "Fine."
Her father let out a sigh of relief, "thank you. Thank you." He placed his unconscious wife on the ground gently, kneeling down and turning to Rose. "Rose, darling, it'll be okay I promise. You're strong, you can outlive this world. I know you can."
Rose was now sobbing, tears pouring down her face like a night time storm. "But, Dad-"
"Shh. It'll be okay, I promise." Her father pulled her into a hug, shutting his eyes tightly to prevent the tears. Rose lied her head on his shoulder, sobbing into his neck. "I love you, Rose."
They pulled away from the hug, Rose looked up to meet his eyes, "I love you too."
He reached into the bag that he had took off of his shoulder, pulling out a photograph and a locket. He pulled Rose's hair back, putting the locket around her neck, and placing the photograph in her hand. He gently nudged her towards the house, "go on."
Rose sniffled, giving her father one last hug, and bending down, placing a soft kiss on her mother's cheek. "I love you, Dad," she said one last time, before walking towards the house.
"I love you," he whispered.
She walked up to the house, the women placing a hand on her shoulder, "we'll take care of you. I promise."
