"Ew, Jacob. I don't know why you even talk about that guy to us. One, he hates me. Two, he's an airhead. As your best friend, I say you can do so much better" Zeke says. Currently, we are riding in Zeke's car on the way to school. Dani is in the backseat and seems to be contemplating whether she agrees or not.

Zeke and I have been best friends since we were close neighbors back in elementary. We were split up when he moved away to Italy half way through our 4th grade year. His dad is in the Navy so he didn't have a choice. Turns out his mom cheated while they were over there. So, his parents divorced and she moved back to the neighborhood right before our 6th grade year, but lives with her dickhead of a boyfriend. I'm pretty sure he abuses her and Zeke and that angers me. But if he does, Zeke doesn't say anything. We've offered our house to him and he stays with us 3 or 4 days a week. Dani comes over Fridays and Saturdays for a full friends weekend.

I met Dani a year after Zeke moved away. She was the black friend I needed in my life. She's so funny but she's ratchet. Not the stereotype ratchet. She just doesn't have a filter and she's loud. She can party day and night and still get straight As. She makes me sick, I love her.

"He's not that bad. He's just different" I say defending my boyfriend. I'm used to dating celebrities who didn't know we were dating, so Jacob is a change of pace. He's so handsome. He has every girl wrapped around his finger, being the typical hot jock. He was the player of the school, but then he met me: the coach. He was pissed that he couldn't get me to be just another number. But I already learned to play the game and I play it better than most. Which is how we ended up talking to each other. Every step he took, I was already two steps ahead and knocking him three steps back. I think we are a fun couple.

"He's kinda a certified ho, babe. Hashtag: Sorry, not sorry" Dani says with an apologetic smile through the rear view mirror. He WAS a ho. Now he hoes with me and only me. At least he better be, or he might not walk for the rest of forever.

"Is the bashing session about my boyfriend over?" I ask. Dani says 'yes' at the same time Zeke shouts 'no!'. I roll my eyes at them and continue voicing my thoughts. "Antyway, guess who's parents are getting her a new Jeep for her birthday that is next month?" I ask, holding back a high pitched squeal. "Biiiitch, are you serious?" Dani responds as Zeke gives me a high five. "A new one, huh? My best friend is about to be riding in style!" He adds while making the final turn into the school parking lot. "Girl, don't get a red car. If it's a race car color, they will jack up your car insurance, just for that" Dani says. She would know, her car is red. "No, I think I'm going to get a black one. Have the seats either a rich brown, or like mahogany reddish brown" I respond. "Ooh, girl. Your car is about to be sexy!" She squeals as Zeke nods his head, locking his car door.

One of the band girls who's known for dick hopping greets Zeke with ho eyes. "Hey Zeke" she flirts as she does that annoying 'cute' wave. Zeke flashes her a smile before picking up his bag and slinging it onto his back. Zeke is not an ugly male. In fact, he's one of the few white guys that are actually attractive in this town. But I think both of my best friends are hot. "Ho!" Dani sneers at the girl, even though I'm convinced she didn't hear the insult. Zeke's mouth slacks open and I giggle as we make our way into the school doors.
