"Wait. That was a murder? I thought they were just playing an extreme game of Russian Roulette." I try to play off but I know that no one in the room is fooled, and when I peer over at Jungkook he's giving me a deadpan expression.
"Smooth." He mutters to me, "Real, smooth."
I nervously chuckle, shifting my attention away from the clearly not amused Jungkook and over to Namjoon who looks like he's about to laugh at my made up stupidity.
"Listen, Namjoon, what happened was a complete accident—" Jungkook tries to start but Namjoon abruptly cuts him off.
"An accident that could cost us several hundreds of thousands of dollars, Jeon, or better yet a lengthy prison stay for some of my men, including you." He points a finger at Jungkook, "And since you were there too, sweet cheeks, they could count you as an accomplice." He then directs it towards me and I scoff.
"How could they even prove that I was an accomplice when the facts are I stumbled upon it by mistake and in result had a gun pointed at my throat." I explain to him and as the smirk rises onto his lips I know something isn't right.
"It's just like how can they prove you had a gun pointed at your throat. There's no photographic evidence nor any other witnesses, and Jungkook knows from past events to keep his mouth shut, so he's no help for you there, sweetheart. Therefore they'd firstly assume you were an accomplice rather a victim."
My eyes widen and I feel my stomach churn out of nerves and anxiety. He was right, if I went to the police, they'd hold me under the count of being an accomplice.
"So we're gathered here to discuss what to do to prevent your pretty face from being put behind bars." He points at me, his finger twirling slightly.
"Go ahead." My voice cracks as I speak, my emotions meshing together into a colorful mess that even a professional artist would be confused as to what color it is.
"We're going to start off easy here," Namjoon begins, leaning forward as he spoke, his hands now folded and placed on the table. I wonder what the definition of easy is in his book because what I heard before the murder sounded like the guy failed an easy job, "You'll be monitored very closely over the next few months, just for precautions to make sure you don't make any stupid decisions such as try to talk to an officer or anyone about what happened. Which means some of my men will be making frequent stops by where you live, and sometimes they'll be ordered to tag along with you when you go out and about," He says, his eyes never leaving mine, "Jungkook will also be one of the people in charge of keeping an eye on you, but he'll be around you more frequently than the others."
"What do you mean by that?" I question, wondering what type of significance Jungkook was playing in this whole messed up game.
"You see, darling, every other week he'll be staying at your apartment, and when he's not at your place you will be staying at his." I quickly look over to Jungkook who has straightened up in his chair. I felt my mouth drop open in shock about this idea of Namjoon's, I was not for it whatsoever. Jungkook and I barely get along as it is what makes him think that this would even work out? Within one week I bet one of us is going to try and kill the other.
"What the actual fuck is this for Namjoon?!" He yells at him, his facial features tightening up.
"You're going to be monitored as well, Jungkook."
"I don't see why I need to be. I've been nothing but faithful to you since the first day I started this job." Jungkook huffs, clearly agitated.
"You're the one who led her right to our gathering, so what's to say you wouldn't try something like that again?" Namjoon points out.
"I didn't know she was following me, that is entirely on her shoulders."
"Sorry, Jeon, but this is how it's going to be for a while until i decide to call off the orders." Namjoon argues back, "As soon as you two leave this building, the monitoring begins."
"Uh excuse me but I have a roommate already living with me, how am I going to explain to her why he's staying with us and why I'm going over to his?" I pipe up. Amber was gone a lot anyways, and she's oblivious to a lot of stuff that goes on around her, but she'd definitely take notice of a male presence in the household.
"We'll take care of her." Namjoon smirks at me and before I could say anything more about it he spoke again, "Don't worry, you can trust us on this."
I scoff, "You expect me to trust you? A gang leader?" I roll my eyes, "Amusing."
"I expect you to trust me if you want to be able to walk out of here alive rather than a body bag." He shrugs and I suck in a sharp breath. Have mercy.
"So what happens after the monitoring? You said that was the easy part." I ask.
"You'll find out what happens if you fuck something as simple as this up." Namjoon sarcastically smiles at me, "Now I'll call for another meeting with you guys in the next month or so to see how everything is going. Jungkook, you're still required to meet up with the others and complete any assignment given to you. Your schedule is still in tact the only difference is where you'll be staying. You two will be escorted back out to the car and driven back to your homes. On Saturday will be the beginning of the week you are to stay at Jungkook's, until then, go about your normal business." Namjoon says, standing up out of his chair. He begins to walk away from the table we are sat at, but stops and turns back around to look at me, "It was a pleasure to meet you, Y/N." He says with a wink before he disappears into the darkness.
Jungkook is muttering profanities across the table, tugging on his hair in the process, and I suddenly find myself running a nervous hand through my hair as well; what the hell did I get myself into?
