Entering Sky High itself, Gwen led us down a couple series of hallways while giving us some backstory on the school. I tried paying attention to what she was saying, but somehow, my dragon self blocked her out, like it didn't like her at all, so I wound up turning her out.
After a couple more twists and turns, Gwen stopped at a couple closed doors signifying to all of us that it was the school gym. I had a hunch that it was where the orientation would take place. Before Gwen left us for a class she had, she pulled out a couple sheets of stickers with our names on them and handed them to me, telling us to find our names and pass them out. It took only a couple minutes for our group to find their name tags.
After Gwen left, the doors opened. I placed a hand on Will's hand letting him know that Layla and I were with him no matter what before entering the gym. We threw our bags by the entrance before heading for the center where was a podium with a stand.
It seemed that we were the only ones around until a bright light flashed above our heads almost blinding us and stopped above the podium and transformed into a woman.
"Good morning. I am Principal Powers. On behalf of all the faculty and staff, welcome to Sky High," she said with a kind smile.
"Yeah!" Zach cheered applauding her.
Did I glance over at him with an expression that said, Really Zach?
Principal Powers gave him an unamused look. Zach looked at his feet already embarrassed of his own outburst lightly swinging his arms back and forth.
The principal shook her head and continued her speech, "In a few moments you will go through the Power Placement and your own heroic journey will begin."
"Power Placement?" Will wondered.
"Sounds fascist," Layla frowned crossing her arms.
"Doesn't sound too bad," I shrugged my shoulders.
"Power Placement. Its how they decide where you go," Ethan replied to Will's question.
"The hero track or the loser track," Magenta said.
"Th-the-there's a loser track?" Will stuttered nervously.
I shook my head finding that part all nonsense and turned to him assuring him that Magenta was only joking, in her own sarcastic way.
"I believe the preferred term is Hero Support," Ethan reassured Will who seemed to relax a bit.
"For now, good deeds. Let the adventure begin," Principal Powers finished her speech and moved to the side of the stand, "Comets away!" she shouted and turned back into the bright light and flew over our heads and left the gym.
The minute she left, a piece of the gym from the center of the gym rose along with a man wearing sunglasses. From under the shades, he appeared to be glaring at all of us.
