This is why you stay indoors and eat your cat food, Tamana-chan.

The very next day, as Nanako got dressed for school, she gave Adachi a kiss on the forehead. It felt weird, especially for a cat. But he didn't care; loved it. He loved her.

The young girl was kind enough to slightly open the windows to let some air in and give him some chunks of meat and milk. She even gave him a name..."Tamana." At first, Adachi thought it was stupid. Then he realized something. Tamana meant "Cabbage", and he LOVED cabbage, so he let that slide.

Nanako's only caveat of staying in the house was that Adachi shouldn't go near the living room at least during the time the others were around. Thus she closed the door so that it wouldn't happen.

"I'll be back in the afternoon to check up on you, okay?" She chirped. "Bye!"

This left Adachi solemnly sitting and staring at the food. "Nana-chan..." he purred softly. "She may be kind, but does she know how to cook?" Then he ducked down towards the food. "Maybe it won't be so bad."

But the taste of the food was bland...not good, not terrible, just...bland. "Bland..." He thought to himself as that vision of his dream about his younger self played into mind. "Like me..."

Next he tried the milk and it was sweet, but something felt incredibly weird in his mind. Was it poisonous? It couldn't be! Nanako would never be this cruel--she was a sweet little angel! But this just felt off.

A few hours later, and he was lazily lying on the floor, almost as if he was dead. In fact, that's what he felt like...dead, but in a nonsensical way that makes him feel drunk.

Then something hit his mind. "I want real food." He meowed aloud. But there was no way he could get passed the door, it was shut tight. But maybe he get through the window. That thought left a giant smirk on his face.

Getting up and moving was the awkward part. He had some flatulence going on, but that didn't stop him from going to the window.  The next part of the process was getting up and it did not take long for him to figure out how. If he could jump on chairs and tables, surely this would be a piece of cake...or so he thought...until his drowsiness started kicking in.

He began to jump really high and then fall flat on his back, causing him to wake up and almost get a sense of his awareness of his main objective: getting to the window.

Adachi crouched down in preparation and then leaped onto the rims with success. "Not bad." He purred as he opened the window with his paws. "Now to find some real food." And off he went in to the great outdoors. He could already smell the freshness of the morning breeze as he went out of the gates of the house, making his thoughts for staying in Inaba reoccur.

Already the cat had a sense of control as well as confidence that it would go smoothly. He knew he couldn't go to the store for obvious reasons. So he would have to go to the rice fields, which wasn't that far. It would be easy, no problem--just snatch a few crops and leave.

Suddenly a loud barking startled the poor cat, making him screech in fear. The dog continued to bark as Adachi continued to make hissy remarks.

"AH BEAT IT, WILL YA?!"He snapped as he waved his claws on the dog, but it refused to back off. Then the cat began to walk away in a drunked manner, thinking that this was a pointless conflict.

Just then, he could hear the dog running near him about to attack. With sweat rolling down and heart beating really fast, the only option for him was to run! Run he did. Really fast!

From the neighboring houses to Junes, this chase was chaotic as well as nonstop. Throughout this fiasco, Adachi, because of his sudden blurred vision, banged his leg as well as tumbling over some stuff. This was not what he was expecting.

"Jeez. What a pain this day is!" He meowed in disappointment as he sat on the umbrella roof above a table. "All I ever wanted was food. Is that too much to ask?" Then he noticed that the dog was still barking at him. "He still hasn't given up, has he?" He placed his head down. "Oh well...I'll just wait until he leaves me alone."

Hours went by and the dog continued to bark, thus it became hopeless to even have some alone time. Then as the sky began raining once more, the dog started to leave. Next thing you know the ex-cop started slipping off the umbrella roof and onto the table with his stomach facing down. It hurt a lot.

"I should just go home." He mewed. He didn't get food and there was no sense of continuing to do so since it started raining once more.

Slowly did he limp on the way back home, with worries in his mind. How is he going to get home looking like this? What would Nanako think of him? How is he gonna tend to his wounds?

On his way home, he noticed a big puddle lying in front of him. He looked closer to see what appeared to be his human self. Being a cat was no picnic and he truly missed being a human. But would folks really want to see a criminal scumbag walking around the streets? Certainly not. The only thing that was his top priority was going back home.

As he got back, he began to leap on the window of his owner's room, causing not just Nanako, but also her cousin Yu Narukami, to notice. This time Adachi didn't hiss but crouched in fear and spite but in a quiet manner.

"Ah! There you are!" Nanako exclaimed as she ran over and picked up the injured cat. "Have you been wandering out of the house, Tamana-chan?"

"Tamana-chan?" replied a confused Yu. "You mean you know him?"

"Yeah. I saw him in a box in the middle of the sidewalk so I had to take him home." Then she realized the scars and bruises on that kitten. "Oh no...you're hurt...come on. Let's give you a bath."

And inside they went, trying to recover the poor kitten by giving him a bath to wash off the injuries and giving him not cat food, but also a small piece of cabbage.

During that time, Adachi learned a few things. His bond between him and his new owner grew stronger, with her tender care and her kindness. And even Narukami wasn't bad at all, since he didn't knew it was really Adachi. He also knew that he should never go outside alone because of the dangers in Inaba.

Family is more important than being a lone wolf or even an exile.
