declaration of love.

Two boys lay together in a dusty room. A shimmering light from the moon illuminated their features. The boy on the right had sharp features. His eyes were pained and dangerous. And the boy on the left was a softer mix of damage and chaos. His eyes were glistening and strained.

The boy on the right turned his head, examining the other boy. He bites his lip and before he can even consider the consequences, he opens his mouth.

"I think I love you." The boy on the left stays alarmingly calm and takes the vulnerable boy's hand. He turns to face him.

"No you don't." And as simple as that, the vulnerable boy becomes stone again. But he wants to know why he is denying what he stated.

"Why?" He simply questioned. He sits up, taking his hand away from the boy he was becoming frustrated with. The other boy sits up as well and smiles sadly.

"Because my uncle would never allow it so you can't. He won't allow me to love you so I won't allow you to love me." He reaches out. "I do love you, Carson. But, I'm afraid that I refuse to love you at the same time, if that makes any sense."

Carson pulls away from his touch, feeling cold. He furrows his eye brows.

"It really doesn't, Chandler. I should go." He gets up and brushes the dust off of his jeans, moving to exit the stuffy basement. Chandler doesn't make a move to stop him, so he leaves, feeling dejected.

The cold midnight air does nothing but make him even more uncomfortable. He was heartbroken and cold. That was how it has been and probably always will be with him. He would always be hidden in the dark shadows of someone else's life. Just scribbles in the margin of someone else's chapter.

He goes to sleep that night, not knowing what he would wake to.
