a speech for silence.

Carson was valedictorian. He walked across the stage with Chandler's note crumbled in hand. His breathing was heavy and anxiety crept up his throat but he swallowed it back.

"Good evening, students, faculty, and parents. I am supposed to tell you all how proud you should be. How good your life is going to get. But, instead, I will speak for the boy who didn't get a chance to. You all get to move on from this, go to college, get a job, get married, have a life. And it took the death of a close friend of mine for me to realize that we've lost peole along the way that will never do any of those things.

So please, take a moment of silence for the ones we lost. Then applaud yourselves because you made it."
