The New Girl (A Dance Moms Fanfic)

Chapter 1

Maddie's POV

"Come on Maddie, we're gonna be late!" My mom shouts from the kitchen. I grab my dance bag and sprint down the stairs towards the front door. My mom and sister, Mackenzie, join me in the car and we start driving towards the Abby Lee Dance Company.

We arrive at dance and I run to the door, ready for a new season. "Hi girls!" Abby waves to Mackenzie and I from behind her desk.

"Hi," Mackenzie and I say in unison. We walk into the den and immediately Chloe and Nia attack me with hugs. After all the girls get to the den, Abby comes in and says:

"Alright, ready for pyramid?" All the girls and moms follow Abby into Studio A, "You're national champions!" Abby announces and everyone cheers. "It was a great season and that all led up to a successful nationals. Now for the pauses, "First up is- actually I'm gonna skip the bottom for now. Next is Nia. Nia, you had a good season, but you've got to fix the feet."

" Then we have Paige. Paige same thing. And , lastly on the bottom row is Kendall. Kendall, you got 4th at nationals. You used to beat Chloe, and now she's back to beating you. Next is Brooke. Brooke, you had the main part in the group and I thought you did a fabulous job. Now we have Mackenzie, because she got first overall in her age division. And 2nd on the pyramid is Maddie. Maddie you got 2nd at nationals, but I thought your routine was amazing.

"And on the top of the pyramid is our national champion, Chloe." Everyone applauds for Chloe and I clap along, but inside I feel a craving to win nationals and make it to the top again.

"So who's the person on the bottom?" Kelly, Brooke and Paige's mom asks, but Abby holds up a hand to silence her.

"We are having a new dancer come to our team," Abby yanks the cover off the top of the headshot. Underneath is a familiar face from competitions. The girl had beat me many times. Everybody starts clapping but I start to feel threatened. "Ms. Crystal will be joining our competition team," Abby pauses, "Crystal and her mom, Ava, will be coming in an hour. She will have a solo. Our other solo will be going to Chloe," Everyone claps and Chloe smiles, " We also have a duet going to Paige and Crystal. It's hip-hop," Everyone claps nervously, "Neither Mackenzie or Crystal will be in the group this week. Girls, spread apart, moms, go." Abby shoes the moms out of the rehearsal room.

The second Crystal walks through the door, I start feeling threatened. Stop this, Maddie, you'll be fine, I keep telling myself. I slide into a split as Ava and Crystal approach Abby. I look up at my mom and she gives me a thumbs up. She knows I'm worried.

"Alright, are u ready to work?" I over hear Abby ask Crystal.

"Always ready," Crystal says with her confident smile.

" Ok then, Mom, take her dance bag into the den and go ahead upstairs. I'm gonna introduce her to the girls," As soon as Ava shuts the door, Abby brings Crystal to the front of the room and says, "Girls, this is Crystal. I met her when I was looking at studios to get ideas from in L.A."

"Hi," We all say.

"Crystal, tell them what styles of dance you do and what age you started," Abby squeezes Crystal's shoulders.

"I've been doing ballet since I was two, tap since I was three, hip hop since I was three, jazz since I was two, acro since I was two, and lyrical and contemporary since I was four," Crystal smiles at Abby. I feel tears start to come to my eyes, and force them to stop.

"See, girls how a ballerina can do hip-hop? Anyways, Crystal you will be doing a solo and a duet with Paige at the competition this weekend," Abby tells Crystal what to work on while the rest of the team rehearses the group and we start rehearsal.
