Chapter 2

Crystal's POV

As I'm walking through the den to get to Studio A, I run into Maddie. "Oh, sorry," I say but immediately I feel the tension between us.

"It's ok," She says and walks away. I shake my head and open the door to the studio. I walk in and Abby greets me with a smile.

"Hey, Crystal. Come over here," Abby waves me over to where she's sitting. I walk over to her. " So your solo is called impossible, and the music is by the artist Shontelle. It's a lyrical contemporary piece and I think it will really show off your technique and emotional execution."

"Ok," I say and take my starting position.

Josh's POV

I walk into the studio and Gianna greets me, " Hey, Josh!"

"Hey, Gia," I say, "Brooke left her tap shoes at home so I thought I would bring them."

"Oh ok. Go drop them off in the den," she says as she walks behind the counter. I walk into the den, and as I'm setting the shoes down in the den, a girl walks in, breathless. And not just any girl, a gorgeous girl. Her long, shiny, platinum-colored hair was swept into a neat ponytail, and her blue eyes were sparkling with joy.

Abby probably didn't yell at her. I think as she walks over to her bag, which happens to be next to Brooke's.

"Oh hey. Are you a dancer here? I haven't seen you before," She says, shaking my hand.

"Um, no, I'm actually not," I mentally slap myself for saying something so stupid.

"Oh, then, what are you doing here? You're not a thief or anything right?" She frowns as she looks me over.

"I'm Paige and Brooke's brother. Brooke forgot her shoes so I brought them."

"Oh how nice of you. I'm Crystal, by the way."

"Josh." Right at that moment Paige comes in and snaps me out of my trance.

"Crystal, come on, it's time for our duet rehearsal. Josh, what are you doing here?" Paige says as she steers Crystal away.

"Nothing. I was just leaving." I reply flatly as I head into the parking lot towards my dad's car.
