I woke up the next morning a little slower then usual. I eventually dragged myself out of bed and got dressed. There was a little bag on my bathroom counter and I opened it up thinking it was for. I took out a smaller box and read the prescription. I opened it up and a contacts container came out.

"EEK!" I've wanted contacts for the longest time but my parents insisted on me wearing glasses. I took my glasses off and carefully put the contact lenses in according to the directions. I blinked so they felt comfortable and my mouth dropped at my appearance.

"I look hot." I said feeling my face then playing with my hair. I decided to change my outfit into something better but appropriate and curl my hair a little bit. I put a little more makeup on and walked out of the house pleased with the way I looked. When I got to school a lot of people were staring. I got a few whistles as I walked to class and I saw Harry as soon as I stepped foot through the door. Everyone was still walking around talking before the day started and he came up to me.

"Wow, what happened?" He asked surprised.

"I got contacts today so I decided to change things up a bit." I said.

"You look amazing!" He exaggerated.

"Thanks." I blushed. Class soon began and this time I sat close to the front of the room. Harry was behind me and every time I turned around I caught him looking at me. I couldn’t help but smile each time. When the bell rang Harry walked me to my locker. I opened it and we started to talk a little about our project that we haven’t touched in a few days when I noticed Brittany a few yards away from us staring at me with an evil stare.

"I better get to class." He said. I looked at him ignoring Brittany for the moment.

"Okay, bye." He leaned down and kissed my cheek before heading off. I placed my hand over the kiss and bit my lower lip. I closer my locker and when I turned around Brittany was right there.

"So, prom with Harry?" She said crossing her arms.

"Yep." I said not looking her in the eyes.

"Well I hope you enjoy, because after prom you two won't be getting far." I gave her a confused look.

"He'll never date you." She confirmed.

"Who says?" I crossed my arms over my books and leaned to the side.

"It's just a fact. A girl like you won't ever get anywhere with a guy like him. Face it Victoria, cars and money won't get you far."

"Who says he's in for that?" I snapped.

"He'd much rather have someone with looks and a sense of direction then a girl who's a nobody." Her words hurt and they made me doubt myself more than ever thinking that Harry would ever like me like that. I walked away saying nothing back to her.

School finally ended and I couldn’t wait to leave. The entire science period we didn’t work on the project but instead focused on something else so I didn’t sit with Harry. I kept thinking about what Brittany and Katie said. Why did he all of a sudden like me? What was it? I packed my tote with any materials I needed to bring home and walked out of the building by myself for once, urging to head home.

"Victoria wait up!" I heard my name and turned around to see Harry walking down the steps in front of the building to me.

"What?" I asked.

"What are you doing now?" He asked. I wanted to say something other than nothing but I couldn’t lie to him.

"Nothing why?" I said.

"Wanna do something?" He said. I looked around debating whether I should or not until I finally agreed.

"Sure, where?"

"How about my house." He said with a cheeky grin.

"Your house?" I questioned.

"Yeah, is that okay?" He seemed a bit nervous at my response.

"No it's fine." We walked to his house since it was close by and I didn’t realize how close his was to my house; only about a few blocks away. We walked up the cozy brick house and he let us in with his key. I followed him into the kitchen looking at everything around me as he read a note.

"Looks like it's just you and me." He said throwing it out.

"Mom at work?"

"Yep."

"I know the feeling." He laughed and we worked on our project a little bit before calling it quits and watching TV. I didn’t notice until now of how close I was next to him and his arm stretched out behind me on the sofa. It was like we were dating even though we weren’t. He was blankly staring at the TV and I thought this would be good time to bring up what was bugging me.

"Harry can I ask you something?"

"What?" He said looking at me. Thanks to the contacts I actually felt confident talking to him for once.

"Why did you ask me to prom?" I said softly.

"Because you're beautiful, outgoing, friendly…." He started to name all kinds of things before I cut him off.

"No I mean why didn’t you ask Brittany or anyone else?"

"Well first of all, Brittany is a total pain and only cares about herself. Plus, I like you." For a second I was lost for words.

"Really?"

"Yeah, you're really cool. I'm glad we became such good friends." My smile was still there but on the inside I was breaking down crying.

"Oh." I said.

"Mhm." He turned his gaze back to the TV. Friend zone. Perfect, just perfect. I should've known.

I left his house momentarily feeling as stupid as ever. I wasn’t going to tell anybody about what just happened. I would feel like a total idiot if I did. I should've known better than to assume that he liked me, but then again he didn’t really say anything other than good friends. Ugh, who am I kidding?
