Dear Bestie,
Just how I let you go so you could be happy, you did the same for me. It was bittersweet parting, but I believe it was best for both of us. You didn't need me anymore, and your lack of attention made me miserable.
Tessa walked into your room with several empty boxes in her hand. "You ready to pack all of this stuff up, Ms. ULCA?"
You chuckled, "I don't even know where to start. It is just so many things I have to go through before I leave for college."
Tessa grinned, "Don't worry, I've got your back. Are you excited about going to college?"
You took some of the clothes out of your bureau and placed them on your bed. "For sure, I think it will be a big adventure. What about you?"
Tessa began putting the clothes in the boxes. "I am definitely looking forward to going to Stanford. I will certainly miss you, that's for sure."
You sighed, "I will miss you terribly. We will call each other all the time, right?"
Tessa winked, "You know it."
Tessa walked over to the shelf where I sat. She grabbed me by my stomach and pulled me down. "What are you going to do with this? I doubt you would take this to college with you."
You looked at me and smiled warmly. "I don't know. I guess I could give it away to somebody. When I was younger, I loved that little thing. I dragged it around with me everywhere."
You stoked the side of my face, "It is amazing how things change over time, huh?"
"Indeed it is. Do you know who you will give the teddy bear too?" Tessa asked.
You smirked, "I have someone in mind."
That was the end of our friendship but the beginning of a new one. Change, I didn't like it most of the time, but a change was exactly what I needed. Change is the basis of evolution. If everything stayed the same, how would the world grow?
I appreciate you for considering my feelings. When you stopped caring for me, you eventually gave me someone else where I would be loved and for that, I will always love you.
Love,
Your Bestie Bearbear
