Everyone has at least thought about what it would be like to be famous. The free items, the fancy cars, the millions of dollars pouring in for one appearance, and when you put it that way, it sounds glamorous. But the spotlight is not always what it's cracked up to be, which is pretty obvious when you look at how fast some of these adored celebrities fall. From the time I open my eyes to when I go to sleep at night, I have someone around me. Add on people documenting your every move every second of the day and it's easy to start to feel like the entire world is watching you.
"Sophia, are you even listening to a word I'm saying?" My manager questions, waving a hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yes Isabel, graceful entrance, side step questions about my next move, ignore questions about Ian, I got it," I sigh running a hand over my dress.
"This is the Grammy's Sophia, the Grammy's, this night is important," she emphasizes for the thousandth time.
"I don't even sing, it's not that huge," I mutter, rolling me eyes causing my body guard to let out a stifled laugh as we pull up to the curb that's lined with limos. She's not wrong about this being a big night. I used to love the Grammy's when I was younger, but I'm not going to give her the satisfaction of being right.
"Alright," she sighs choosing to ignore my comment. "It's showtime. Elegance and grace," she repeats as the door to the car opens and my body guard steps out, offering his hand to me. I take a deep breath and prepare myself for the dreaded red carpet.
The moment my feet hit the floor it's as if I've set off an alarm. People begin shouting my name as camera flashes go off every other millisecond. I blink a few times to help my eyes adjust to the bright lights and give a warm smile and wave, holding my dress up with my other hand so it doesn't drag. It's Versace, you can't let this drag. Elegance, grace.. I repeat in my head stopping at my managers command and begin posing for the cameras, making sure to change my angle every couple of seconds to give everyone the best shot I can. This goes on for a few more moments before I feel the familiar squeeze on my shoulder, a routine my manager and I have mastered after doing events like this so often.
I walk down the row of camera's, stopping at the first person I see beaming at me with a microphone in their hand. Glancing at the symbol on the mic, I note the program I'm currently talk to and prepare myself to answer his questions.
"Sophia Montgomery!" He bellows, welcoming me into frame. "You look absolutely fabulous this evening," he marvels taking in my dress. I had to agree, I looked damn good.
"Thank you," I gush, instinctively looking down at my ensemble, running a hand over my gown to make sure it's wrinkle free.
"Who are you wearing?"
"Versace, of course," I smile as he turns back to his camera.
"Now Sophia, you've been out of the light for the past six months, welcome back," he gives me a smile which I return. "What's been happening in your world?" He holds the mic out to me in anticipation.
I smile wide, leaning in a little towards the mic "I've been taking some time off for myself. I think it's important to have some time to think and reconnect with the things most important to me."
He nods at my response, pulling the mic back to himself. "That is the most important. Do you have any plans to return to the big screen any time soon? Speaking as a huge fan, you're being missed." he asks, raising his eyebrows in anticipation.
Laughing, I shake my head some. "Not currently, but when I do all of my fans will be the first to know."
He continues to ask me questions I've probably answered before until I feel the squeeze on my arm. This repeats as I slowly move my way down the aisle, inching closer to the doors. After what feels like an eternity, I finally make it to the last interviewer. I let out a small sigh of relief before I approach him, noting the logo on his mic like I had every time before this. TMZ. God why?
